Would recommend Lakaz Maman to anyone reading this, it’s just Amazing! Just been for our second visit and it did not disappoint. I had the meat starter with a side of octopus with pineapple, my girlfriend had the mixed vegetarian starter. The food was just as brilliant as last time with the octopus cooked to perfection, the meal was complimented with an amazing selection of home made sauces and the Dessert was out of this world!.... the service was great and we actually got served by Shelina herself which left me and my girlfriend a bit star struck, keep up the good work I can’t wait to come back!

WOW, just wow! Just back from an extremely rare ‘Mummy Night Out’ at Lakaz Maman and can’t recommend more highly! Impeccable customer service and faultless attention to detail!



We pre-booked and when they heard I had allergies (we’ll actually it’s my daughter, but as she’s breastfed I have to exclude her allergens from my diet too) they rang me to discuss the menu ahead of time to ensure I could enjoy something scrummy and safe! They even gave me a doggy bag containing the rest of the special curry sauce they had made up just for me!



I can honestly say it’s one of the tastiest meals I’ve had in a longtime! Reasonably priced too! Love supporting independent restaurants such as this rather than always going to the big chains! Can’t wait to return soon!

This was SO GOOD! Highly recommend the salted cod fritters, chicken roti wrap and the brownie. There was so much choice, i wanted to order everything. The staff were all very nice. Definitely will come again!

Modest, bright, cheerful surroundings, but the food...... out of this world! Took me back to my childhood. The amazing street food and tasty dishes cooked by my aunts.

High praise from a Mauritian who can compare the food with the real stuff in Mauritius. This is the real deal!! I can't get enough of the food. I always go there when I'm homesick.

The best combination for me is Mama Sheila's Samosas, Gateaux Piments House Cari and Rasgullah with Vanilla Ice cream...absolutely stunning!

Fabulous Food of the Tropics just as we expected ! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to those who would love to try something different from the norm.

Loved this little establishment. Went there on FB users recommendation and because of “winner of BBC MasterChef” title. Very good samosas!!! The dip was a bit salty but still good. It’s a nice difference from the everyday “tourist food”. Recommended �!

Actually I did love the food. When it was correct!! I’ve wanted to come to this restaurant for years, since it opened in fact and was so excited to be eating here for the first time this evening. I didn’t really even have to read the menu I’ve read it so many times already so already knew there was something to suit all the family- me- the vegan, my omnivore husband and our two pescatarian children... And some new and exciting flavours to try...

Firstly when I went to bite into my roti I saw chicken hanging out of the end of it and on checking my husband had been given mine by mistake and mine his.. Phew narrow escape!

Then my daughter started moaning that the fish in her fish finger burger tasted disgusting. At first we put it down to her trying to get out of eating her main so she could have her pudding quicker but on checking she had been given chicken nuggets. She and I were very upset as we don’t like eating meat at all and I am quite worried as she has never eaten it before either so I hope she won’t have a bad stomach. Fortunately she hated the taste so much she only had a bite so I think she will be ok.

My husband complained and the manager was apologetic but seemed more relieved that my daughter was just pescatarian and not allergic. A good job she wasn’t!!! She also asked if we had told the server the children were pescatarian which I thought was irrelevant as we ordered two fish finger burgers for the children so didn’t expect chicken whether we told them this info or not!!

To top it all when the server brought the ice creams out she said ‘here is the mango one’ to my daughter and ‘here is the vanilla one’ to my son- we ordered the coconut one for him!!! It actually did turn out to be coconut but we obviously checked after the last couple of incidents... It made me wonder if my vegan meal was actually vegan or not!!! My husband and I decided not to have deserts after all after all this hassle..

They did give us the kids meals for free at least and the Manager apologised again and said that nothing like this had ever happened before.

Gutted we had this experience after wanting to come here for so long and just want people know about our experience so they are aware to check their food to make sure they have the right thing when eating here, especially if they have allergies or anything.

Such a shame as the food is delicious and it could of been an amazing meal....
