Lynn Davies celebrated 10 years at Lakelands Hospice. Starting her journey as Hospice at Home Nurse going into the homes of patients who are sadly at the end of life. Moving on to become Hospice Nurse and Hospice at Home Nurse working days and night where ever needed. Finally moving into her current role of Sister and Hospice at Home Coordinator.
When asked about her time at Lakelands Lynn said "I have loved all the 10 years in all roles. I cant imagine working anywhere else now. I love what I'm doing, working with such a fantastic team at the hospice and with our Hospice at Home Nurses knowing that all we do makes a difference".

Our patient's Christmas Parties took place on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th December. Entertained by singer Jonathan Kennedy and Happy Together Ukulele band .A buffet lunch followed by delicious desserts kindly donated by Mademoiselle Desserts. Santa made his usual visit with present for all and the day was rounded up with a huge raffle.

Our patients were entertained by a fabulous group of children from Kingswood Primary Academy today (Swing Kings) with Christmas songs. They practice once a week after school and we thought they were all amazing.
Thank you Kingswood Primary School. Hope to see you again soon.

A big thank you to the team from Tollers Solicitors who gave up their day to help decorate the hospice with Christmas decorations to give our patients that festive feel, Santa hats off to Becki Clarke, Gaby Croxford, Emma Blacow and Rob Kasasian.
“We had a wonderful time today helping to decorate the hospice. The staff and nurses are all lovely and clearly enjoy what they are doing greatly, with several of the patients confirming this by commenting on how good the care provi...ded is. It’s great to visit such a wonderful, caring place and to make sure that there were some festive decorations around to spread the holiday magic. Thank you to all at Lakelands for having us today and for taking the time to explain the history of the hospice and how it helps those in need of care or just a friendly face – it is a truly worthwhile cause.”
Thanks for your kind words Becki we are glad you all enjoyed your day at Lakelands

Hospice Hat-Trick
The Gold Standard Framework award was reaccredited to Lakelands Hospice for the third time on 27th Sept 2019.
The Gold Standards Framework is a model that enables good practice to be available to all people reaching the end of their lives, irrespective of their diagnosis.
... GSF enables early recognition of patients with life limiting conditions, helping them plan ahead to live as well as possible to the end of their life.
Our Nurse Manager Tracy Glen stated, “We pride ourselves at Lakelands Hospice in the high-quality care we provide, GSF enables us to provide more structure to what we do.”
“GSF Awards are presented to settings that demonstrate continued improvement in the quality of care they provide.” “With provision of ongoing evidence of how we care for our patients and following a visit from GSF colleagues, we are extremely proud to have been re accredited with the GSF Quality Hallmark Award.”
“This award is a continued recognition of the high quality of care we provide for our patients.”
“I am extremely proud of all staff at Lakelands Hospice.” “Their continued dedication to deliver the best possible high-quality care for our patients is reflected in receiving this award.”

This is our final post for Hospice Care Week 2019.
We hope that you have enjoyed reading a little more about what we do at lakelands. If you have any questions about any of our services, about volunteering or fundraising for us please contact us on 01536 747755 or https://www.lakelandshospice.org.uk
Did you know that Lakelands Hospice provides care, free of charge, for people in Corby and the surrounding villages, living with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, COPD, MND... and advanced heart failure?
We are accredited by both the Care Quality Commission and Gold Standards Framework for the high levels of care we provide and also save the NHS hundreds of thousands of pounds in patient hospital avoidance.
Unlike other local NHS funded hospices We do not receive any government or NHS funding, relying solely on charitable donations and fundraising events and we need to raise in excess of £525,000 each year.
Thank you to everyone that contributes to Lakelands, as a donor or volunteer, we couldn’t do it without you! It’s your hospice, your community.
KEEP IT LOCAL, KEEP IT LAKELANDS
