Lancashire Women'S Centres Description

Our Values
• To provide a safe and supportive environment for staff, volunteers and service users.
• To offer a non-judgemental, equitable and transparent service reflected by how our staff, volunteers and service users are treated and how we treat each other.
• To be professional and accountable.
• To be mindful and inclusive.
• To take positive action to ensure that our services are available to all within our community and to strive to remove barriers to access.
Service Delivery - What We Do
We have a 'one stop shop' model to offer a wide range of support and services, ensuring that women:
• Engage well with a service they trust
• Feel supported to work hard to achieve their goals
• Do not ‘fall between the gaps’ as can happen if they are signposted to a range of services.

We recognise and support the principle that if interventions are wrapped around the primary care giver, then the wider family and community share the benefits of outcomes.

Through consultation with service users, volunteers, staff and wider stakeholders, we are able to evidence the effectiveness of the ‘one stop shop’ model of services.

The Services Currently Offered
• Counselling
• CBT
• Mentoring
• Volunteering
• Case Management
• Family Work
• Couples Therapy
• EMDR
• Mindfulness
• Complex Case Work
• Specified Activity Requirements / Court Orders for Attendance for women who have committed an offence.
• Support for women involved in sex working
• Drop in sessions for Drugs and Alcohol, Substance Misuse,
• Full training programme including: Personal Development Courses, Basic Skills courses, IT
• Housing, Debt and Finance Advice
• Employment support

Our aim is that all services are free to access at the point of delivery – there may be some exceptions to this but no woman should be turned away because of financial hardship.

External Environment
We recognise that the changing policy environment presents both challenges and opportunities for the sector. The Health and Social Care Bill, the Transforming Rehabilitation programme, Payment by Results drivers and Welfare reform mean increasing pressures on service users and those who support them. We have opportunities to influence the shape of service design to ensure that women’s distinct needs are considered and met across sectors and with policy makers.

User

Went for personal advice. Was bowled over by the service. Very professional, understanding and caring. More women should know about this wonderful service. I didn't until now.

User

Visited the team at the Blackpool centre as part of my induction into primary and intermediate mental health services in Blackpool. Passionate, knowledgable and friendly staff - look forward to working with you in the future!

User

This centre helped me through post natal depression whilst struggling with 2 young children. I felt afraid and alone. The doctors offered medication which I didn't want and put me on a 2 year waiting list for counselling. The women's centre got me help within weeks. Counselling, positive parenting courses, self esteem classes and free childcare. They were a godsend in a dark time.

User

Thirty years on and growing. This organisation has always and will continue to help, sustain and support women in Lancashire and beyond. It is no exageration to say that I would not be who I am today, or even, obliquely, here, were it not for LWC. Here's to the next thirty years!!!

User

They are so lovely, and supporting, i've made some lovely friends since going, im currently on a course for confidence building .

User

There are not enough words to say what the women's centre have done for me, from helping me send an email to getting me a tenancy, they stuck with me step by step through my recovery from heroin and crack Cocain, in most instances I would feel uncomfortable to have a key worker substantially younger than me but that's not how I felt at when I was welcomed with open arms at Blackpool Womans centre they felt more like a friend then just a worker reading from a textbook

User

Such a good service, everyone is very friendly helpful and welcoming. I have just completed the mindfit and I'm feeling more confident, starting why worry next week. I'm enjoying growing and learning about myself and making new friends.

I'd like to post a review for Nichola from the Blackpool service, she's one amazing woman! I suffered with anxiety and it was quite severe, I finished my sessions last October and I've gone from having fears of the roads...to driving, having fears of being out and speaking to strangers...to now working in a pub and also working in a call centre to help elderly people, before my therapy I hadn't worked for 6 years because of anxiety and depression, and she literally swept it from under neath me, I honestly cant thank her enough for what she has done for me!❤️
