Mentioned to few folks at the Handlebar last weekend we put a few quid into a crazy sidecar racer, Andrew Haynes, aka the racing preacher. Here's a nice shot of him at work on TT practice. He finished the first sidecar race a couple of days ago and he's racing again tomorrow at 10:30. Hopefully a couple of tyres that raced the TT are coming to become bar furniture! Might even brew a beer in his honour....
Fire's roaring away, warming the Handlebar up nicely. Thank goodness the snow and ice is all gone 😊
Snow update! We did make beer in a very cold brewery yesterday, but thats it until next week now. The Handlebar is not open tonight (Thursday) or Friday. If it stays freezing into Saturday we may well not open at all this weekend. Stay safe and enjoy beer somewhere!
Its big, its black, and its back! Roundhouse Derby and Handlebar have it on, a few more usual suspects soon....also just bottled so we can share the love a bit further
There's a first....KeyKegs purchased!
A quick reminder the Handlebar is closed this weekend. Although a few brave souls turned up last evening to find the only draught liquid was paint! Open as normal from next Thursday 18th
Its back! Bottling a fair chunk of it too.....and did someone say keg.....
Just when you thought Christmas couldn't get any madder...... a few bottles at The Thorn Tree - Waingroves and Handlebar from this evening
Its time for us to kick back a little bit for Christmas! Handlebar is open quite a bit over the holidays, from 12 noon onwards today, Friday.
Wallop has been just about walloped, so our next danger cask is....... bigger than the lovely Dangermousse, which is only a sensible 6% juicy IPA and just tapped yesterday.
Nope, from later today we will also be serving our colab with Lost Industry Brewing, a treble IPA at 11.1%. On hand pull from Saturday till its gone!

It's an A&E kind of brewday 😋
New beer just starting to go to all the usual places. We did Island 7C, then Island 4C - these used a hop blend called Falconers Flight, which contains Citra amongst other hops starting with the letter C. Finally the version using 100% Citra for dry hopping is here :) Tasty!
Looking forwards to this one! A punk poet from Notts coming to entertain us all at the Handlebar :) Plus a few of our random open mic songs too. Starts around 5pm this Sunday till later on, whenever we run out of singing juice
Well I think we can claim the least organised weekend prize for the last couple of days! Work and helping another brewery out have been unexpected but fun. So...... we do have the 'soon to be' world famous Small Town Boys playing at the Handlebar from 6pm onwards today. Short notice, running out of the weekends beverages but never fear, we have beer! And cider! And wine! So come along and join in the chaos :) Today! 6pm till late
This weekend marks 1 year since we opened the Handlebar, amazingly enough. Back then, we didn't have doors on the toilets, a proper bar, glass washer or any staff. Not that much has changed, but we are having a low key celebration tonight. Not normally open on a Wednsday, so from about 7.30 we will be serving a couple of beers at £2 a pint and various other ciders, beers, wines and soft drinks. Probably a few bits to eat too. Come and join us if you're free :)
Nice to see BBC reporting catching up with things!
A beer for every song it says!! Come on down :)
A little bit of good news...... Handlebar is opening Thursday evenings, starting this week :) 6pm doors open. Give us a few weeks and there will be a quiz, maybe a bit of food to share - not decided yet!
And don't forget the Sunday session, its this week, the 17th September from 4pm or so. Last time it had to be ended at 10.45!! Everyone is welcome to bring a song along, borrow a guitar and sing about beer and wine like our show-stopper guest here.......its that easy. Our featured artist on Sunday is Jake Robinson, he's good alright!
Advance notice of our next Sunday Session at the Handlebar a week on Sunday from around 5pm till late. Open as usual this weekend from 5pm Friday Noon Saturday and 2pm Sunday. Streets in the Sky is on cask at Thorn Tree Waingroves this weekend too!
