Due to the ever-changing situation with Coronavirus, we will now be operating on reduced hours and numbers of staff.
It’s important to stay safe & keep our distance from one another, so we are now operating a policy of one customer in store at any one time.
We will do our best to remain open for as long as possible. Naturally as situations change, our hours may change. We shall update Neighbour Next Door & Facebook.
... If we are forced to close then we shall operating a "Call & Collect" service for the Wine Store.
For locals, we may be able to deliver to doorstep. Give us a call and we are sure we can work something out. 01564 784695.

Our fabulous Backsberg Pinotage and Backsberg Chenin Blanc from South Africa!
We meet all of our suppliers, so thought we would share to put a face to two of the wines that we sell. We are privileged to provide to you Pinotage and Chenin Blanc from the fabulous Michael Back, from the Backsberg Estate.
Michael is famous for challenging conventions. In 2015 he was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award at The Drinks Business Green Awards ceremony for his contribution to the envi...ronment, sustainability, ethical practices and education. At the same ceremony Backsberg was also awarded the Amorim Sustainability Award for Wine.
In 2006, Backsberg became the first carbon neutral winery in South Africa and the third in the world!
With a wide array of aromatic characters which include peach, melon and pineapple, and ripe fruit that is tempered by finely balanced acidity, Backsberg Chenin Blanc is definitely worth a try! x

A Whisky to celebrate Burns Night
Haggis and Whisky are star attractions at a Burns Night supper and no Burns Night celebration would be complete without a dram of fine Scottish Whisky. We have just the Whisky, NOMAD, made with a selection of over 30 malt and grain Whiskies aged between 5-8 years, blended together and matured in Sherry butts for 3 years then shipped off to Jerez and finished in Pedro Ximenez casks for a year before bottling.
Douse the Haggis, toast the Haggis and drink with the Haggis with this unique Whisky, which denotes flavours of raisins, cinnamon, toffee, fruit cake and sultana.

Chinese New Year and Burns Night
Two important dates appear on the 25th January, centred around celebration and food. Here at Lapworth Wines, we like nothing better than enjoying great food, surrounded by our favourite people, and of course, some great wines. Here are some great pairings for Chinese New Year and Burn's Night.
Chinese New Year - Saturday 25th January
... We have picked out some great wines to pair alongside some of our favourite Chinese dishes.
Sweet and Sour Pork - This is a classic dish that many enjoy and contain two fabulous things that wines love; sweet and sour. Where there is sweet, there must be bitter and where there is sour there must be salt or savouriness. Pair this style of dish with either our Chono Pinot Noir from Chile or for a white delight, go with Pauletts Aged Release Riesling from Australia. Better yet, why not gather round a load of friends and try both.
Crispy Hoisin Duck with Pancakes - We are salivating at the thought of this! As above, there are sweet and sour flavours here that crave certain styles of wines, however, you also have some crispy and quite fatty duck here, so its pretty crucial to have a wine with plenty of zesty bite to it. Time to bring in some beautiful Primitivo from our friends at Casa Vinicola Botter spa. This wine has a touch of sweetness to it and that all important freshness in the form of some acidity. The sticky flavours of the hoisin sauce also pair brilliantly with this wine.
Chinese Dumplings - These are a stalwart really and enjoyed as part of the ‘out with the old’ and ‘in with the new’ philosophy at new year. Gather your friends, family and loved ones on 25th January and celebrate with a glass or two of Passerina, with its easy drinking style and hint of waxy honeysuckle to compliment the ’small bite’ nature of traditional dumplings.
Burn's Night - Saturday 25th January
Celebrate Burn's Night with Scotland's national dish Haggis and one of our more subtle wines such as Paulett’s Polish Hill River Shiraz, which would be perfect with it’s jammy fruit and hint of subtle pepper. As todays Haggis dish tends to be a bit more spicy a Carignan, Roche de Belanne Vieilles Vignes from vines that are 50 years old with its nose of sweet ripe strawberry and dark cherry and it’s supple ripe fruit flavours would also work as a great foil to the earthiness of the accompanying neeps (swede) and tatties (potatoes). Something special for Sunday!
Why not try one of our gorgeous Italian reds, from 14th century cellars situated in the heart of Tuscany in the town of a Montepulciano, Crociani’s Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. “Bursting with red fruit with spicy notes and vanilla from oak ageing, this wine is simply delicious. I will be enjoying this with my roast beef this Sunday.”

We love keeping things local and new in store from our local supplier Church Farm Brewery are three new beers to try. Church Farm Brewery is a family run craft brewery located on the family farm on the outskirts of Warwick. Producing beers that are full of flavour Church Farm brew their beers by hand, the traditional way, using water from the farm’s well, locally sourced malt and hops and just add time and dedication to create a cracking pint.

An exceptional gin to make a fantastic gift! Handcrafted using the finest of botanicals, hand sourced from around the world. I also love this company as they not only make great gin but have partnered with the Marine Conservation Society, which works to ensure that our seas are healthy, pollution-free and protected. We have a tasting bottle open on the weekend, so if you pop into the shop you can try our premium Salcombe gin. X 🍸🐋🦈🐳🦞🦐🦑🐙🦀

Working late one night last week I was asked if I sold hot drinks which we don’t however I have a kettle and made the guys who are working on the road outside the shop a cup of tea. Tonight they have bought me a gift to say thank you. Making tea was nothing and my tea making skills are awful, but so, so happy to receive this plant and totally unexpected. I think they probably saw me in Sainsbury’s yesterday looking at them. Totally made up by their gift, and have not been able to thank them as they left it with a friend. Thank you guys whoever you are. XXX Really wanted one of these! X

Just occasionally a new line impresses. This rosè gin from Salcombe has flown off the shelves... or should that be sailed? Paired with Fever Tree Aromatic it’s stunning. New stock is now in, but if the last two weeks are anything to go by, you’ll need to be quick! #salcombegin #fevertree
