About Larkin'S Bar

We opened in August 2010 and have since been part of the thriving location of Newland Avenue.

Larkin'S Bar Description

You'll find us at the head of Newland Avenue, just around the corner from the ever-bustling edifice that is Princes Avenue.
We have a wide range of select craft beers on offer from a multitude of different breweries. If you're looking to try something new, or just after that unique and exotic choice, Larkin's is your first stop.

Food is served from 12: 00 daily, with a Sunday carvery.

Visited here many times always have a lovely meal, I actually had the carvery for a change and was not disappointed. Have also had sizzling chicken, burgers, salmon, well worth visit

User

Popped out for a few drinks and a bite to eat after work as it is fairly local. The food, as always, was delicious and the staff as friendly and courteous as ever.

A very enjoyable experience was had, once again, in one of my favourite bars.

Don't believe me? Why not try it yourself

User

Me and my partner went in this afternoon for a meal to celebrate our fourth anniversary and wasn't disappointed... Same good service and great meal strongly recommend the hot meat platter and it was good to see moz again

User

Love the fantastic atmosphere in Larkins, the staff are fantastic and so is the food and drink! Not to mention The Magic Garden too, lovely outdoor area and there's always plenty going on. Highly recommended.

User

Larkins hosted the Victoria Fountain Charity Quiz night last night and, as ever, we had a great night. Staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful, the food was good and we raised another £300 plus for the Fund!

Thanks to everyone who helped, served, set the questions and did the Quiz!

I went twice last week ans thoroughly enjoyed both visits. Stroganoff on Monday which was so tasty and roast dinner yesterday which was delicious. I have never been disappointed at Lsrkins.

User

6 of us went on Friday teatime, so it was getting busy, food was excellent and large portions. Service was quick and polite. Been here twice now for food and will be going back again . Thank you

User

This place was recommended and it didn’t disappoint- beef stroganoff was delicious and my friend had the steak pie. Staff very attentive and the food was well priced. I’ll definitely b back when I’m next in Hul

User

This is my local so a tad biased. Love the salads although they are very large as are most of the portions but food is good. Larkins has a brill relaxed atmosphere & love the outside space. Gin selection a bit limited & no berry’s etc but they now have gin balloons so step in right direction.

User

Looked very busy as we went in looking for a table for five thought we would struggle but a couple offered us there table ,very kind . The staff were all friedly and helpful and the food was good ,wold top on tap too . Back soon

User

Came for a quick post-shopping drink, not to eat. Good ambience, lovely garden for sunny days, happily (in my view) more pubby than wine-barry (though plenty of tables set aside for dining), real ale choice available. Scanned menu and made a mental note that this would be in the mix when next deciding on having lunch or dinner out.

User

We've eaten here on quite a few occasions as it's a local bar for us. Larkins main problem is a lack of consistency. Some food is freshly cooked, some is of the 'boil in a bag' variety, and sometime the presentation leaves a lot to be desired. Vegetables can also be a bit strange and don't always cause complement the dish. If you're lucky you might get a nice meal here but it's never a place I could recommend to someone else.

User

Waited 35mins fora burger - no mention if a long wait or an apology when it did arrive. Looked good but the burger was very greasy, oozing grease as you took a bite - not the most pleasant experience. Chips were nice. Coleslaw had a tang to it, again not pleasant. Sadly I won't rush to eat there any time soon.

User

Popped in for a quick refreshing drink sat afternoon , considering the great recommendations the gin selection was Gordon's or strawberry with basic tonic and basic selection of crisps. The outside area is a good idea altho 80% of it was closed . I'll give it another shot when weather gets warmer and re review.

User

Normally give this 5 star but the meals last night were disappointing and not to their usual high standard.

Went to larkins tonight as a group of 4. Unfortunately, as the mains were being served to the table, one dish (a red hot lasagna) was dropped all over a friend of mine. The poor waitress that had the accident was very apologetic but it meant that one friend had to wait for her main meal, whilst three of us had ours, and the other friend was covered in scalding hot lasagna. Now I understand that accidents happen and this is by no means a complaint against the waitress but the whole “after care” was a bit abysmal to be fair. We were offered a free round of drinks, even though we all had full glasses at the time - 2 of the girls were just drinking Diet Coke due to driving/pregnancy anyways so hardly recompense for what had just occurred - this was declined. I had to ask for the two meals to be refunded, one for the girl who had to wait for her meal and the other who had had lasagna all over her. Eventually this was refunded at the end of the meal, when we asked if the two girls - not all 4 of us - could have a complimentary dessert the “manager” actually sniggered at us and said they had had their food refunded and sarcastically offered my friend some ice for her scalded arm !! Not very customer focussed and with no real concern for my friend who had had hot food spilt all over her arm/leg and bag !!!

Have always rated larkins - the food, atmosphere and service - but tonight’s experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. Could have been handled better all round in my opinion.

User

Myself and family visited yesterday my father and myself chose the Haddock chunky chips mushy and bread n butter, when it arrived the fish had very soggy batter which was placed on top of the chips thus making the chips greasy, the bread which the meal came with was dry with no butter, this meal £9.59 was very disappointing. we have dinned here before and we have been happy with the food and service how ever this visit did not meet our expectations.
