We bought a chocolate orange torte for an alternative dessert on Christmas Day and we were not disappointed. Light fluffy an gorgeous. It went down a treat an I would certainly get this one again and try others.

Was delighted to discover that 2 of your cakes are dairy free.

Thank you for our beautiful engagement party cake. It looked amazing and the detail was incredible! Really tasty too :)

I had a Peppa Pig cake made for my daughters 3rd birthday, Victoria sponge. It was beautifully made, a lot of detail went in to it and of course tasted fantastic. My daughter loved it. Thank you

I decided i would really like a huge Coffee Puff cake for my Mums birthday. They didn't have any when we went in but actually made us 1 there and then. Amazing customer service, thank you so much

I bought a rhubarb and raspberry pie, what can I say but absolutely delicious! As soon as I had finished the pie, straight back to Bents and bought another three! Just wish I lived nearer.

Huge thank you for this mornings breakfast order for my company - it was for a training session so was very keen everything went without a hitch - brilliant service and friendly smiles as always!

Had the best pea and ham soup today. Never had any so good since mum passed away 10 yr ago!

Bought a black currant tart at Bents and it was the best I've tasted in my 86 years. Full of fruit and the pastry was crispy and delicious. Well to the baker.

A massive thank you to all the team at Lathams of Broughton for transforming the 3050 John Deere into a cake! The customer service was faultless, the cake looked amazing and the taste was even better.

Lathams of Broughton is Salivation City. Pop into their shop at the bakery on Caxton Road in Fulwood, look at all the cakes on display and then it starts - salivation. It is at times like these that I just hate being a diabetic and looking at such forbidden fruit does me no good at all. They encourage me to be naughty They built their reputation on their cake making skills for which they are still admired locally and for their expertise in this aspect of baking.



However, the weak link in their chain and it is weak, is their pie making skills. They are, quite frankly, not of the finest. The main problem is the pie cases and lids. They seem to be over baked and too dry in comparison with their competitors. The crusts are not especially tasty and the pies are not particularly well filled. My wife and I had three yesterday and we struggled with two and threw the third in the bin.



They are brilliant bakers though, but they really ought to consider changing the way that they produce their pies or drop them altogether because pies are not their forte, but cakes, well, yummy, yummy.

The food and cakes are great at Latham's but the price increase in January was really unnecessary, considering the already expensive prices.



Can't fault the food and service as the girls on the counter are great but to greedy Latham's.

Mum bought a cake fresh on the day for my brothers 40th birthday . It was described as a light chococolate cake , we found it a bit weary. Disappointed as we'd heard good things about Lathams cakes

Carrot cake.
