A beautiful evening for a stroll!? Why not stroll down to the town square tonight and enjoy Launceston Town Band’s first ‘Brass on the Granite’ of the year. Perhaps enjoy a little 'medicine' from one of our local pubs! Starts at 7:30.

Jon Stringer, one of our Town Council colleagues, has written a poem to commemorate the D Day landings. Jon formerly served with the Devon and Doreset Regiment.
I've never seen the place you fell. Or even beaches you once called hell. Nor have I made castles in the sand.... Whilst stormy weather raged inland. Utah, Omaha, Juno, Sword and Gold You fought with courage. The Brave, The Bold. I will never forget the sacrifice you made. On those beaches that you once laid. SEMPER FIDELIS. I WILL REMEMBER. Karen Farrington We have been busy in the TIC over the last couple of days with The Devonshire Association descending on the town. Our Devonshire cousins were intrigued with the artwork of local artist Karen Farrington displayed in the TIC. We stock a wide range of Karen’s original paintings, greetings cards and tea towels etc. We even stock her adult colouring books! Why not pop in and see what takes your fancy!

Fantastic Tour of Launceston! On Tuesday night we had the privilege of taking a guided tour of Launceston with our preferred town guide, Les Kennedy. A former local history teacher, he really knows his stuff. As well as ex-plaining the technical bits about the town, Les’ talk was also full of anecdotes about the locals, some famous, some not so famous. These tales really brought history alive for us. Whether it was the reservoir beneath the town square, the bullet holes on th...e buildings or the town’s folk chucking excrement out of the windows... Les explained everything in a graphic but entertaining detail. Les has a series of planned dates and times throughout the summer for interested locals and visitors and to cap it all off, there is no charge for the tours Les takes… it’s a no-brainer! To find out more about dates and times or to book on a tour, contact the TIC on: 01566 772321 or email info@launcestontic.co.uk

Edd Bateman's West African Love Affair!!! If you YouTube Edd... it's not what you may have thought. A terrific fusion of African rhythms blended with a rock flavour. “No mere holiday romance this one – Edd’s been playing African music since his teens. He knows those Senegalese grooves inside out and composed the first m’balax song written in Wolof by an Englishman specially for this Afro-European band’s 2016 debut album. Expect African heartbeats to set your pulse racing.” (Bristol24/7)

Well Done Chamber of Commerce
A huge well done to Annette and her team at the Chamber for the hugely successful Launceston Egg Hunt. The TIC has been inundated with visitors, some young and some not so young, over the last two days.
