£8,000 COMPENSATION FOR MOTHER AFTER DENTIST REMOVES WRONG TOOTH Our client, a young mother with children, was experiencing toothache and was referred to a specialist dentist as she had a phobia of needles. Extraction was recommended, and her tooth was removed under sedation. When she reached home she realised that the wrong tooth had been extracted.
While the dentist later removed the diseased tooth and apologised, our client suffered depression as a result of the negligen...ce. She approached us and we undertook extensive research, obtained her dental and medical records and arranged for a Psychiatrist report confirming how this negligent extraction of a healthy tooth had affected her emotionally.
The Dental Protection Society initially offered £3000 as compensation and later raised that to £8000 when both we and the client disagreed. The final amount covered costs for CBT therapy for our client.
