Left for Dead is a modern indie record shop recently opened on Wyle Cop. Stocking the latest releases and quality back catalogue on vinyl and CD, Left for Dead’s mission is to stock the most exciting music known to man. Whether it’s a remastered jazz classic on Blue Note Records or the brand new album by Sleaford Mods, Left for Dead is sure to have something for every taste.
Owner Andy Haddon has over twenty four years’ experience working in record shops up and down the country.
“I started out as a Christmas temp with HMV in Telford in the dark ages of laser discs and cassette tapes and I went on to manage shops for HMV, and the indie’s Fopp and Rise. Then in 2012 I took a year out and in the back of a camper van somewhere in Western Australia the idea for Left for Dead was born”.

The first Left for Dead shop opened in Birmingham in 2013 but Andy has had his sights on a shop in Shrewsbury for a long time:
“I’ve got a bit of history with Shrewsbury; I went to Art College here and I’ve brought my comics from Paul at Infinity and Beyond since he had his very first shop. I’ve been looking for a place in Shrewsbury for a couple of years, but it had to be on Wyle Cop, there’s so many cool little shops here and the footfall is great”.
Future plans for Left for Dead include having a coffee den above the shop.
“A great record shop will introduce you to new sounds, it’s a place where musicians can meet and discover a mutual love of Kraut rock or Howlin’ Wolf. Left for Dead is all about a great shopping experience and proving to people that there is a future for record shops in the age of downloading”.

Hence the name of the shop?
“Yeah, there’s a huge dollop of irony in there somewhere”.
