The reviews for Treasure Island are in...and we're not just talking about Sandi Toksvig and Prue Leith's reaction to our mince pies on Press Night! As Sandi and Prue shared a mince pie with the City Mayor (no soggy bottoms, thankfully), we invited the critics to set sail with us on an adventure. And they loved it! So join us in the Christmas event of the year. https://www.haytheatre.com/whats-on/treas ure-island

The first production from the Haymarket Theatre will be the world premiere of Treasure Island, penned by national treasure and established author Sandi Toksvig (The Great British Bake Off, QI).
With Toksvig’s trademark razor (or should we say cutlass?) sharp wit, Jim Hawkins’ adventure across the High Seas in search of treasure will appeal to all ages. Along the way Jim encounters deadly storms and even deadlier pirates, led by the infamous one-legged Long John Silver. Featur...ing rousing sea shanties and daring sword fights, piratical parrots and acrobatic puppets, this new adaptation is wonderfully imaginative and will leave you spellbound.
Co-written with her sister Jenifer Toksvig, and with music composed by David Perkins, this thrilling new version of the adventure story by Robert Louis Stevenson is the perfect Christmas treat for all the family.

The guys are giving it their all!! It was never going to be easy and there were bound to be teething problems with a refurbishment rather than a new build. There will be some great artists to come but I would imagine it will be later as the “handover” date was delayed many times so I would imagine it was difficult to book in advance and guarantee contracts etc.

My high rating reflects the “story so far” as I know how difficult this has been.

I noticed a very low rating was given but of course politics is a dirty word.

Good luck guys and onwards and upwards!!

Really enjoyed attending a recent show, I am really pleased that it has reopened and look forward to seeing more shows. It’s a shame that other reviewers felt the purchase of drinks more important than watching the show. I like a drink but not at the expense of the show I’ve gone to see!

I've seen some marvellous performances by actors and musicians at the Haymarket Theatre, going back 35 years. Great to hear it's being brought back to life. Long may it run!
