Yesterday, we just popped in for a coffee. I have to say, they have the best coffee what we ever tried!!! The service excellent, even we spend there only a half an hour. If we'll go in London,we'll definitely go in again for that lovely coffee! ;)

User

Lovely food, lovely staff, lovely evening. Would definitely go back.

User

I always go there for a dinner before a show, and it's always a beautiful atmosphere, makes me feel like I'm in a romantic place in Paris.

User

Great atmosphere, delicious piping hot food, great value

User

Friendly welcoming service, lovely food. I hear the foie gras is delicious!

User

fabulous French food, wonderful service and an exceptional wine and cheese selection

User

Lovely pre show dinner at a reasonable price. Well worth it.

User

Lovely place to visit. Nice ambience where we enjoyed a glass of champagne, thank you!

User

Half a lobster and fries for £25 struck me as great value and it was delicious, washed down with a small Carafe of Sancerre. What's not to like?

User

Excellent food and drink...a very chatty waiter who was very welcoming - lovely atmosphere and although expensive, excellent quality.

User

We went to the restaurant for something fairly small as we were a bit short of time before a concert. We had Croqes and a drink. The food was very nice but I would like to visit again with more time so we could sample some different dishes. The only complaint I have is that we were shown to a long table for 8. We were told there were no tables for 2. We took this but looking round a short time later weren't convinced this was true. Other couples joined us with a space between each couple. If we visit again I would definitely want a table for 2.

User

Lovely venue but we only had 3 drinks each at the bar and the bill was £66 including tip which is way over the top!!!

6 of us visited Les Deux Salon on Saturday 15 January. It was a special celebration booked back in October for my Dad’s 60th birthday. His only specification for his birthday celebration was ‘to eat at a great French restaurant in London’. After looking through many reviews and listening to personal recommendations, we decided to book Les Deux Salon, followed by the 10:30pm show at Ronnie Scott’s.

Unfortunately, our visit was far from what we had expected and I would like to highlight our primary issues below:

• We were not greeted on arrival – had to walk around to find someone to direct us to our table in the restaurant.

• Bread was already on the table – how long had it been there?

• We were asked if we had looked at the menu and already chosen what we wanted to order before having all sat down.

• Nobody offered to take our coats from us – even our local Chinese offers to take our coats.

• We asked for water for the table – each given a tiny glass of warm water. A jug with ice and lemon?

• From arrival, it was 40 minutes before we were able to order any wine – the restaurant was empty bar two other tables and no waiting staff to be seen.

• When the wine was bought out – nearly an hour after we first entered – the red and white were poured and both left on the table. No ice bucket was provided and nobody around to ask for one. We had to take one left at another table!

• We ordered our food at the same time as wine. No explanation of the menu was offered – despite some of it being in French so had to discreetly Google a couple of the dishes. No mention of any specials or recommendations. Monkfish was sold out and no guidance to an alternative was provided.

• The starters came out and they were lovely, we all enjoyed them. My Dad ordered the oysters, so we were able to fill our ice bucket up from the oyster platter so keep our wine chilled.

• Unfortunately, the half lobster I had chosen to replace the sold-out monkfish was cold and watery – a sign of it having previously been frozen, perhaps? There was no taste to it, apart from a sharp garlic butter on the side. Thankfully, the lamb and duck that the rest of the party had were very good.

• Waitress came to clear plates and asked why I hadn’t finished my food, we explained that unfortunately, it was cold. We had been unable to send it back as there was nobody else on the floor while we were eating.

• We then had a 30 minute wait before dessert menus were bought over. When we ordered our desserts, we asked for the bill at the same time as it was now approaching 10pm and we needed to get to Ronnie Scott’s for 10:30pm.

• The two crème brûlée were fine, nothing special and both were half eaten.

As I’m sure you can determine from the above, our visit to Les Deux Salon was extremely underwhelming at a time that we really needed a special family occasion due to personal reasons. We looked at booking so many restaurants: Le Pont de la Tour, L’Escargot, Coq D’Argent and Boundary, but really thought that Les Deux was the place for us.

As we are not from London, we booked a driver both ways at considerable cost so that we could all enjoy drinks on this special evening; your 60th only happens once, after all. We have never been on a family trip to London, instead always booking one of the lovely restaurants that we have nearby; we are so gutted that we did not do this again this year. Due to the total lack of atmosphere/ambience, we all felt rather deflated within the first 15 minutes of sitting down and this feeling only got worse. So much so, that my Dad was adamant that he wanted to go straight home and not to go to Ronnie Scott’s, which we had paid for in advance. We are so glad that we managed to convince him otherwise and at least we finished the night on a good note.

A great restaurant is 50% service and experience, 50% food…we wanted a typical French restaurant, typical French service and, for us all to have a really great evening. My Dad mentioned that he felt like he had been bought to a chain restaurant and that it was ‘just sh*t’. Rather damming from someone who doesn’t swear, nor complain.

We are guessing that the lack of customers and atmosphere was due to the lull after pre-theatre and before post-theatre dining. However, this is the time that the full price menu is charged and the rush has gone, so service should really be at its best!

When we received the bill, there was a £50 service charge, and the lobster main was still on there, despite having complained about it. My brother asked our waitress if he could speak to the Manager. He explained that we were very unhappy with our experience and that we did not want to pay for a cold dish. Also, he said that as lovely as our waitress was, one waitress for the whole restaurant floor, even when empty, was not enough. There was no visual presence and when she had to go downstairs, it left us with no one to ask if we needed something. Service was unacceptable, so we did not wish to pay a service charge. This was waived without argument. We still gave our waitress £20 as it was not her fault – rather bad management.

For an evening that cost us as a family just shy of £900 all in, we all came home sober and in low spirits which we 100% contribute to our experience at Les Deux. The whole thing was just not good enough.

This evening, we will be celebrating his birthday with fish & chips, music, cake and conversation. Maybe we should have done this in the first place?

you do not have to sell foie gras to be a French restaurant, just fresh local food with wonderful sauces. No need for cruelty on a plate.

User

They sell foie gras, the cruellest food in the world, second only to hanging live dogs and setting lthenm on fire in China at the Yulin Dog-Torturing Festival held every June when 10,000 dogs are tortured to death and eaten.

User

Shocked and dismayed to see foie gras on the menu. Especially knowing what a terribly cruel practice it is

User

Poor indeed. When restaurants ignore the ban on producing Foie Gras in the UK, imposed due to the extreme cruelty involved in it's production and import it instead, just to fulfil a falsely perceived sense of grandeur. Very poor taste!

User

Making money out of the cruelty of Foie Gras, disgusting, how can you sleep at night?

User

It's beyond belief knowing that there are STILL restaurants that sell #Foiegras ??!?? This is animal cruelty! Many restaurants took it off their menu! And so many countries banning it! Please go with the flow!
