Meet Georgie the Snail!
Georgie is our time travelling snail who pops up on the menu with his favourite thing that happened 'On This Day' in history. If you’ve ever wanted to know when Roquefort cheese was created or when Salvador Dali was born, Georgie will have the answer. The menu drawing is penned each day by Aurélie Bourguet who’s fabulous illustrations can be seen across all the menus around L’Escargot. We went for our anniversary last night and were treated with complimentary champagne and dessert - our waiter James couldn't have been nicer, really attentive. The food was DELICIOUS! The truffle risotto in particular was superb, will definitely be going back again.

User

The service, the food and the attention to detail was of a very high standard. Loved the dinning room, had great feel about it, some may say it's tired and needs a lick of paint, personally I thought it had character and great ambience. I would highly recommend giving it a try, especially if you like snails 🐌 and garlic.

Stumbled across this absolute gem by accident. Had the most amazing meal The food was stunning and service couldn't have been better. The ambience is also lovely. Had the escargot and they were delicious. As was the rest of the food. We had the pre theatre menu. Have already recommended it to friends going to London this weekend and will definately be back with family

User

Lovely atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Will definitely go back.

User

Love the place! It was my first time to try the snails and L'escargot didn't disappoint. Also the service was very good and we had the most charismatic waiter (if I'm not mistaken his name is Mat) who took pictures for us and selfies with us. He definitely made our experience even more enjoyable! We loved all the food we ordered (snails, foie gras, lobster, and crème brûlée and raspberry and almond tart ) Hovewer, we wish that raspberry and almond tart had more fresh raspberries and even wouldn't mind to have some raspberries on top of crème brûlée.

It's been around 10 years since we last ate here and glad that we have gone back. We did not have a reservation, and ended up with a really good table. From the moment we walked in the service was excellent, we were really looked after and had great banter with the staff. The food was amazing simple but full of flavour.. Our overall experience was enhanced with the staff. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough!

Incredible dinner last night. Me and my sisters went and within seconds of walking through the door we were in love. The host at the reception desk was chatty and charming. The decor felt luxurious.

Incredible service, all the staff were absolutely brilliant. So thank you!

We had the chateaubriand... it was to die for. Great big jug of bernaise. So many places are stingy with the sauce!

The whole experience was amazing and we will be back again and again.

Great location close to theatres and excellent food & service. Highly recommended.

Great food, service and wonderful ambience!

User

Food was excellent, service a cut above. The chateaubriand and crime brûlée were to die for! Would definitely recommend this place for some old school charm and some of the best food I've tasted

User

Been going to L’Escargot for about 10 years... was there on Saturday night, the staff were brilliant and picked up on it was a special birthday for me, the atmosphere and the food was excellent... thank you L’Escargot for making my evening so special...

User

Absolutely amazing meal every single time I am there!

User

A wonderful late lunch at the ever-charming L'Escargot. Delicious Bloody Mary and chateaubriand and attentive service. No complaints whatsoever!

User

A beautiful building and decor. The attention given to us by James was excellent and the food was delicious. This was our first visit and it won't be our last!

User

Great staff. Escargot were extraordinary. Very flavorful and authentic. Confit du canard was good but not sure if it was true confit or roast? Not like in France. Pistachio soufflé was excellent as well just wish they would use not too much heat as the sides become little more browned to just add slightly bitterness.

Famed for having grown snails in its basement, L'Escargot remains true to its French heritage. It's menu contains a good selection of French classics to cater to variety of tastes and budgets.

We start our evening with an Asian styled crispy duck salad washed down by a glass of Pol Rodger champagne. Others opted for French classic like steak tartare, lobster bisque and chicken liver parfait.

Next up were the parsley and Garlic snails, they looked and smelt great however I found them rather small and rubbery.

For mains a handsome looking chateaubriand for two with chips went down a treat, however the sirloin streak that was placed next to me filled me with envy. Perfectly cooked steaks and chips with the perfect crunch.

For dessert I opt for an apple tarter-tan which disappointed on so many levels, it looked like an apple pizza with a dollop of Ice cream and tasted of caramel apples.

Now the wise amongst us orders a chocolate fondant. It looked and smelt divine. Sadly I didn't get to taste it as I watched them devour every last spoonful.

Service was good with attentive staff catering to our every need. The ambience would have been great however the lingering smell of fresh paint overwhelmed my senses and distracted from what could have been an amazing evening.

Overall the foods reasonably priced, drinks can become expensive if you have a penchant for the finer end of the menu. #totastemaker #french #escargots #soho

Visited 23rd November. The food was average but the service was slow and inattentive. As a result we asked politely to take the service charge ( a ludicrous 14.5%! ) off. We were met with eye rolling and an unacceptable level of rudeness from the manager on duty and no apology was offered?! The manager really turned our evening into a sour one at the drop of a hat. We were shocked.

It's a shame really as the ambience is quite nice but I will not be visiting again and will warn friends and family to avoid this establishment too.
