Us, on the shop's first day. Today marks 6 months of trading for Lesser Litter. We would like to thank all who have supported and shopped with us so far, and made this work. Tens of thousands of pieces of single use plastic and packaging have been saved, and tens of thousands of pounds channelled into ethical and organic production already, thanks to you. We are busy right now making some big additions to the shop, adding new stock, and working out ways to use our increased b...uying power to offer even lower prices. We'll keep you updated with new stock and price comparisons over the coming weeks. In the mean time, we can already offer you: Fill - vegan, cruelty free, sustainably sourced, biodegradable liquid handsoap and surface cleaner - both only 40p/100ml (refill your 250ml handsoap dispensers for under £1) Ombar - organic vegan raw chocolate buttons - for only £2.55/100g (compared to £7.60/100g from Ocado or £5.96/100g from Ethical Superstore)

Just a little note to confirm our opening hours over Christmas. We will be closed on the official bank holidays, but otherwise it will be business as usual. So this Saturday at 5pm (22nd December) we will close, and we will be back in for business on Thursday 27th December. We will also take New Years Day off to recover. We wish you a great Christmas, and would like to thank you for the all support over this year X

Snacks are back! Roasted fava beans and green peas, for those who fancy something a bit more interesting and wholesome than crisps over the festive period. We'll be open later tonight, as we are every Thursday. Check us out for some less wasteful gift ideas :)

At it's worst, Christmas can be a time where people are pressured by marketing into debt, waste and over consumption, with demand met by modern slavery and environmental destruction. How we spend at Christmas can make a real difference, and it doesn't have to mean cutting back, spending can have a positive impact. B...uy locally and independently if possible. Consider buying gift experiences, vouchers, or an environmental charity donation card for appropriate recipients. Indulge in high quality food. Support local, organic and fair-trade options - it isn't just ethically and environmentally beneficial, it often goes hand in hand with better, healthier eating. Lesser Litter is shy to join in with the commercial festive hype, however, we do offer a few potential gifts for a more sustainable Christmas. Our stock includes natural toiletries and soy candles, palm-oil free organic fair-trade vegan chocolates, organic mulling spices in pure paper infusers, gift vouchers and some of the finest Italian organic olive oil we have ever tasted, with decorative glass oil bottles. Please comment with suggestions for more gift and spending alternatives that spread the true spirit of Christmas, while contributing towards the gift of a future for our children.

We had a great first visit to the shop. Lovely layout, calm and spacious. Very friendly to customers despite a spillage of pasta (sorry again!) The kids enjoyed it as well. Will definitely be a regular visitor.

Bought some stainless steel straws at last and shall be back in for a shampoo bar, toothpaste and to fill my washing up liquid ASAP!

So pleased to be able to visit on the opening day. Excellent initiative with plenty of products at reasonable prices. Staff are lovely, and the shop overall had a great atmosphere. Look forward to seeing the business grow and develop in the future.

So happy this place is finally open! Friendly helpful staff selling a vast array of quality and affordable products, in a lovely clean shop. It was so easy to take my own containers and fill them with pasta, soap, sugar, maple syrup, etc... I was also pleased to see ecological toiletries.

And of course my children's favourite (beyond the olive oil that my 2-year old decided to pour himself �) was the peanut butter machine!

The youngest generation needs educating on saving the planet and places like Lesser Litter will hopefully help Somerset kids see this, it's definitely helping mine as my daughter now says Lesser Litter is her favourite shop. She particularly loves her new bamboo toothbrush, and knows why it's a good alternative to plastic.

It’s what Taunton needs � friendly helpful owners willing to listen to customers about future potential products - loving the Castille soap have just cleaned my kitchen floor and bathroom with it and impressed with results you only need a very small amount and it’s smells fabulous �

I've wanted a shop like this in town for ages as hate the amount of packaging waste from things! I bought two metal straws and a shampoo bar and love them both! The straws are comfortable to use and are nice and cold and the shampoo bar lathers us beautifully and leaves my hair so shiny! It smells amazing too! I will be coming in again soon to try some milk and will be purchasing as much of my cupboard essentials as I can from you guys from now on!

I was super excited to pop in and recky the place today, didn’t realise you hand literally just opened! Looking forward to coming back armed with containers �

Great shop, it's super easy to bring your own containers and stock up on a lot of weekly staples like pasta, rice, grains and cereal without creating any waste. There is also a pretty comprehensive range of spices, as well as oil, honey, maple syrup, washing up liquid etc. The produce all looks really nice and the prices are reasonable, I'll definitely be going back

Fantastic concept and good to see an ethical and environmental shop here in Taunton. Great range of products. You can bring your own containers or buy in shop and select as much or as little of what you want. It is a great way to shop and I will be a regular customer!
