On a rather cold and windswept day at WILLOW MARSH fishery, Shenstone, Kidderminster, Worcs, Josh - who had never caught a fish before had several roach to simple float fished maggot before switching to a banded 6mm pellet and promptly had this little fella which was played to the net brilliantly on 3lb 8ox hook link and a size 18. Nice angling Josh. To book a beginners session visit the website at http://www.lets-gofishing.com
What an incredibly bizarre session I had recently! Amongst several good perch and some small roach were 4 x goldfish 4 x crucians and a chub! ALL from a tiny drain. Read about this strange session on my BLOG at http://www.lets-gofishing.com/Blog-News-F eatures
I had a lovely day on Wednesday, returning once again to the Royal Berkshire Fishery in Windsor where, Marly and his cousin Harrison - both from Los Angeles came along for a coarse session with Grandad Kadi. They used a pellet waggler, zig rig and method feeder tactics to catch several nice carp, some bream and specimen sized roach. My son Harvey - who came to help his old man out also chipped in with a nice common. Find out how the session panned out by reading my latest blog at https://www.lets-gofishing.com
Lovely few hours on the Staffs-Worcester canal yesterday yielded 11 chub with four over 5lbs. Best 5lbs 9oz. Read about the session in my latest blog post at www.lets-gofishing.com
Any thoughts?
I use this line for 90% of my coarse fishing. Love the stuff. Very low diameter for its stated B/S and being translucent, its low vis in most situations. BUT, has anyone used it for CARP or BARBEL mainline?? Any thoughts? Feedback appreciated.

Just had a lovely weekend back down in the south east where I stayed with a friend in Maidenhead, Berks. Whilst there, I had a tutorial with Marly and his Grand Dad Kadi. Marly had never caught coarse fish having lived in the USA for most of his years. His first ever carp was caught on the pellet waggler and he then went on to have 5 more on straight lead and pva mesh bag tactics. Kadi caught on the pellet waggler for the first time and just after that session ended, my son Harvey turned up and had a lovely 13lb common - also on the pellet waggler! A Mr Whippy 99 ice cream in Marlow on Sunday was a perfect end to a great weekend. Happy days!
Have just finished my latest blog entry - all about my fishing in my local Black Country area. This time its about Rudd and Tench. Read it at www.lets-gofishing.com
Had a smashing day at the Wilden Pool Fishery charity open day on Saturday. Lovely weather and lots of youngsters catching fish - that's what its all about surely?
Thanks to all who popped along to see me at the WILDEN POOL FISHERY charity open day on Saturday. But, a special thank you to Des Taylor who was as generous with his time and advice as ever. A big man with a big personality and kind hearted nature. I have'nt laughed so much in ages as I did on Saturday. Natural comic too! We caught loads of perch, roach and some lovely rudd on simple 4m whip to hand and young Mason was just one of many to catch their very first fish - ever!
Does anyone have or know anyone who has of 2-3 trestle tables I could borrow for the WILDEN POOL CHARITY OPEN DAY this coming Saturday - 17th May?? Can collect

My two passions in life are 1. My son who sadly I don't see often enough and 2. Fishing. So, when the opportunity to combine the two passions presents itself . . . . it makes for a wonderful day. Harvey had never caught a carp on a pole so we popped down to Wilden Pool Fishery, Stourport On Severn yesterday and had a very pleasant couple of hours and, where mission was accomplished! He was getting withdrawal symptoms from being away from his PS4 so I didn't push my luck and stay TOO long!
As I get older, it is the simple pleasures in life that matter most. Like seeing my son next week for a few days and ......catching a few silvers with minimal gear. Half a pint of red maggots, a 5 metre whip to hand and 3 hours resulted in over 60 roach, rudd and perch ranging from a couple of ounces to about a pound in weight. All in pristine nick, I can't imagine many had seen a hook before but where were they caught from?? You will be amazed and can find out by reading... my latest blog post on www.lets-gofishing.com
Best wishes.
