Beware Rogue Landlords!
The measures implemented by the Housing and Planning Act 2016 are finally starting to take effect with Councils starting to update their housing enforcement strategies in order to take account of their new powers conferred by the Act.

Training Session: Recovering Abandoned Premises
For all property / housing solicitors in England - Book your training session now for a 3-hour in depth analysis into the current legal position and the pending new position under S.57 of the Housing and Planning Act 2016 which is due to come into force any day now.
Despite S.57 being groundbreaking, there are numerous ways in which property professionals can trip up, any one of which transgression has the effect of invalidating... all steps that have been taken up to that point.
It is therefore vital that property solicitors and/or other property professionals are fully informed before engaging its mechanism.
Contact St. Albans Chambers now on 01727 843383 to book your training session or send your enquiry to clerks@stalbanschambers.com.

Landlords beware! Licensing schemes are becoming increasingly more popular for Local Housing Authorities across the country, which schemes need to be adhered to before a landlord is capable of renting out property.
A failure to license a property within a designated area is a bar to obtaining possession!

Naughty Landlord! Whilst a bit of a sensationalised witch hunt - one must not threaten to evict following complaints about disrepair - especially after an Improvement Notice!

It is true - the Govt. do put a little too much emphasis on first time buyers. What about the rest of the country?

‪A proprietor on Airbnb wrote a very unreasonable and unfair review of me for absolutely no reason. Airbnb investigated this and subsequently removed the comment, but when I asked to write a review on the proprietor's wall at this stage, airbnb stated that it is "simply impossible" after a 2 week period to be able to write a review.
See my response.‬

Re #leaseholdscandal - leases with ground rent over £1000 in London (or £250 elsewhere) are deemed to be assured! Therefore, if deemed to be assured, this would entitle landlords to engage the possession route as found within schedule 2 of the Housing Act 1988 for the leaseholder's failure to be able to pay the unfair ground rent... White Papers are all well and good but what about previous unfair ground rent clauses?

Mr Wilson Craw may call for the abolishment of S.21 possession, but he clearly is not a landlord.
Also - calling S.21 easier than S.8 is just plain wrong! He clearly has never had the need to engage S.21!
