... Prime Spring Lambs: With more numbers forward trade would be easier on the week. Well fleshed lambs still in demand with weight good to sell. A pair of cracking beltex lambs from Keith Porteous topped the ppk at 213p and a heavyweight lamb from R Fawcett & Sons topping per head at £98. Overall average 178p
Cast sheep: More numbers forward and still very good to sell. Continental av £74 Leicester av £87 Mule av £65 Swaledale av £40
Cast Rams to £120 for a Leicester from E Fairburn & Sons Marriforth.
Cast Cows: Only a small show of cows still selling well with more needed weekly to fill buyers requirements. Dairy ave 110p Topping the sale at £925 was ER Terry & Sons Ewe Briggs.

Opening store lamb sale and weekly rearing calves & stirks (12th July) Forward:125 Rearing Calves, 7 Stirks & 181 Store Lambs Rearing Calves: A excellent show of calves sold to an increased number of buyers. With stronger calves in good demand 26 calves broke the £400 barrier resulting in some healthy averages. Although some smaller calves would prove easier to buy. Calves Topped at £460 on 3 occasions with KE & KL Nicholson, A Sowray & F&S Iveson all sharing the top honors. ...Averages B Blue Bulls ave £352 Lim Bulls ave £326 Angus Bulls ave £309 Hereford Bulls ave £237 Saler Bulls ave £225 B&W Bulls ave £104 B Blue Heifers ave £300 Lim Heifers ave £217 Hereford Heifers ave £218 Angus Heifers ave £136 Saler Heifers ave £240 Stirks: Sold to a top of £495 for a blue bull for JW Broadwith & Son B Blue Bulls ave £457
Store Lambs: A nice show of lambs for the opening sale averaged £65 up £7 on the year. With some buyers going home empty handed more lambs could have been sold to vendors advantage and are required for the next sale on the 26th July with a show for pens of 20. Contact the office with any entries. RMS Livestock topped the sale with a strong pen of texel lambs selling for £71.50
