Universal Credit not welcome in Waltham Forest!
Join Unite Community and Disabled People Against Cuts to protest about the punishing regime due to be imposed on people with low incomes in our community.
Tell Iain Duncan-Smith MP in his constituency what we think of his ‘big idea’, Universal Credit, at 1pm on Saturday 2nd December at Chingford Mount.
... Universal Credit is an economic and political disaster bringing distress and impoverishment to many of those forced to endure it. Iain Duncan-Smith is the single person most responsible for starting Universal Credit.
Under Universal Credit disabled people will pushed further into poverty by cuts to disability premiums and cuts to child disability payments. Changes to benefit payments will make women financially dependent on men. Single parents will be especially badly hit by Universal Credit cuts and payment changes. The appalling Tax Credit ‘rape clause’ means that women can only get Child Tax Credit payments for the first two children unless they can prove they were raped. This involves filling out a 45 page form.
We want to make it publicly clear that no civilized Government should impose this on its citizens.
