One of earliest uses of escalators was in the construction of the Egyptian Great Pyramid at Giza, which was completed around 2560 BC.
Stone blocks were rolled on tree trunks on earth bridges in order to construct the pyramid – the rolling wheels acting as the fundamental principle for today’s escalators.
And, perhaps with the exception of the tree trunk wheels of ancient Egypt, we can maintain and modernise all escalators, regardless of age, make or model.
