Great place, but extremely pricey. We called in after a walk on Holy Island ordered a pint of beer (£4.25) and a basic lime and soda water (£2.25) £6.50 total. In the surrounding area this same round would cost, on average,
£4.00 to £4.50 at the very most. Also food prices very expensive and portions very skinny. Really disappointed.

Stayed here on the Coast and Castles bike ride. Nice rooms and good cycling facilities such as a bike maintenance stand, secure storage and bike cleaning. I have had a meal here before and it was nice and the staff were really helpful. On a recent occasion I ordered a handmade pizza for £12.95 and was looking forward to it after a full day of cycling. When it arrived there was only half a pizza which was cut down the middle! Where was the other half? When I complained the manager said he would knock a couple of quid off and wasn't helpful at all. After a while the manager eventually apologised after I pointed out a full pizza would be £25! I ended up getting it for nothing but it was not a good experience. I'm hoping this was a one off as the pub has been good in the past. I still can't get my head around why I was given half a meal. There is no logic to it at all!

Staff very helpful and accommodating. Food Good, drinks good. Rooms clean and comfortable. A little road noise but not bad. Plenty to do and see in the area.

Every staff member in the place was absolutely delightful!! They were all so happy and helpful and attentive and just all around perfect. We arrived for dinner and a drink and ended up staying for 4! I had the fish and chips and it was the biggest piece of fish I have ever seen in my life! My boyfriend had the spicy chicken pizza and although it was delicious and filling, it was nowhere near the 12' size stated on the menu. But if we are ever in the area again we would definitely return :)

On my way from Edinburgh to London and popped in whilst passing. Very polite staff and very welcoming.

I ordered Fish & Chips - it was served piping hot and tasted amazing. The chips were thick cut and perfectly cooked.

One of the best pub lunches I've had.

I stayed here with a group of six walkers ,we were given rooms under an outside staircase ,the rooms are adequate but we were kept awake all night by other guests arriving late and others leaving early to watch the sunrise making sleep impossible. The staff are doing the best they can but appeared well rehearsed when I complained and when you pay in full on arrival they are in a strong position, the drinks and food are over priced and ordinary. But the hotel is in a very good location to visit the island. All in all not impressed

Excellent place to eat or board. Just by confidante turn on A1,so very convenient ,alway get a warm welcome nothing too much trouble and the food is "top notch".
Thoroughly recommended.

Well located, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Only 3 stars because my evening meal was pretty average (steak pie rather tasteless) and the rooms aren't cheap. Would suggest eating out if staying - there are a couple of alternatives not too far away.

Lovely pub. Caters for pretty much everyone. Especially for our family of four plus two Border Collies. The pub is very pet friendly. There is a snug room to keep the pets apart from the other clientele. Food was pretty good. Staff were very friendly.
