About Little Angel Theatre

A centre for excellence in puppetry

Little Angel Theatre Description

London's only purpose-built puppet theatre with shows for all ages. Founded in 1962 by John Wright we create shows celebrating puppetry that also travel nationally and internationally as well as hosting visiting shows. Next to the theatre stands the workshop where all the puppets are lovingly made by our puppet makers for our shows.

Cinderella's gone back to her stepmother. Sleeping Beauty's still asleep. There are dragons on the loose and kingdoms unsaved.
It's a lot of pressure being charming all the time and Prince Charming is constantly letting everyone down. Paralysed by his fears, he hasn't left his room in three months. Somebody needs to come to our Prince’s rescue.
... This new musical is funny, endearing and suitable for anyone who’s ever felt a bit anxious. For ages 6-11, until 7 April 2019: http://bit.ly/2SoOOwr

"I don’t want to suggest there are answers to anyone’s anxieties, instead I’d like audiences to think there might be strange and interesting ways to look again at worry; to honour it, and to find ways to challenge and laugh at it too."

It’s a lot of pressure being Prince Charming. There’s all those dragons to fight and kingdoms to save, not to mention being charming all the time. It’s enough to make anyone a little worried.
Holed up in his bed, Prince Charming is making a list of his worries – from being struck by lightning or getting stuck in quicksand to the problem of his unfortun...ate name. Somebody needs to come to our Prince’s rescue.
This heartwarming new musical is funny, endearing and suitable for anyone who's ever felt a bit anxious. Ages 5-11.

Went with a school group last Wednesday to watch Kika's Birthday - the staff were so kind and accommodating to our group and the performance was absolutely beautiful! Most of the children had never been to the theatre before and they were absolutely spellbound - parents too! Thank you so much for having us and I hope to bring another group to this beautiful place again soon.

User

Went to see 'Going on a bear hunt' it's amazing!!!! Puppets are brilliant and puppeteers were superb! It was very cleverly put together. Thank you. My little one wants it more, we are now watching our clip on you tube over and over! Any chance of a dvd?

User

Went to see "we're going on a bear hunt" with my 2.5 yr old. Absolutely magical. What a treat for both of us. Lovely small scale theatre abs perfect for the little ones.

User

We went with my three years old daughter today to see "The three Billy Goat's Gruff" and she loved it! So as me! Amazing voice and performance, excellent puppets and set up!It is truly a treasure in the heart of London! Such an opportunity for the little ones to see something so authentic!Congrats!

User

We saw here Sleeping Beauty in the wood. And it was absolutely brilliant. Very lively, magical, funny and uplifting. I went with two 4yro girls and they enjoyed very much so I did ( and other adults as well ). The acting couple was so great!!! Beautifully singing, they were funny and full of ideas. I loved how they hid grown up jokes in the play without interrupting it for kids. I was laughing my head off!!! Would definitely go again!!! Thank you very much for such an amazing experience

We saw "Me", a beautiful story of a baby penguin. Our niece, who is 4, loved it. It's the second time we've been to Little Angel Theatre and we will surely go again. The way in which they tell the stories, for children and for adults, is womderfully bewildering.

User

Today we went to see Red Riding Hood with a twist. The story has been smartly created, all taking place from a child's bedroom (stage). The main and only actress was funny, engaging, smart (she rhymed through the whole performance beautifully) and took us through the story using wonderful props and puppets to represent the characters. The morale of the story is great, "Don't judge others by the way they look". Thanks for the wonderful show!

User

This is my second time at the theatre.

The first time I saw Dogs don’t fly I think and I could honestly say it was terrible and I didn’t think I would ever return !!!

However my sons nursery arranged to see ‘ singing marmite’ and I was truly amazing

My 3 year old was watching it the whole time without moving around or loosing interest.

The dolls were also interesting and I think I will now return to watch it with my 6 year all too ))

User

The little owl performance was magical. It was my 3 year old's first theatre experience and he was transfixed. Gentle, call and mesmerising. Ingenious set and props and enchanting music. It was the perfect length. Enchanting. Thank you for this lovely piece.

Saw the most beautiful and spellbinding production of "The Paper Dolls" here, truly wonderful.

A gem of a place that I dreamt of visiting as a child but never did, was wonderful to finally come here with my own family and be blown away by the magic.

User

Saw Macbeth yesterday and it is incredible. From the word go you are totally absorbed into this dark and emotionally tense world. The use of bird based puppetry is a stroke of genius in light of the number of bird based references within the text and the music score is deeply haunting and moving. Massive congratulations to all who have worked on this - a huge success!

User

My daughter and I went to see Handa's suprise at Chester lane libary today. What an amazing performance the show was memorizing. The ladies were amazing and so engaging with the kids. Beautiful voices x

User

Just seen "The very old man with enormous wings", a delightful fable with a great sense of humour, wonderful funny script and beautifully worked characterisation with the puppets, loved the movement, music, set and props - totally enchanting!

User

It's been a while since we've seen 'We're going on a bear hunt' but the our family still like to think back on it and we'll treasure it as it was truly outstanding.

User

First ever visit, why oh why has it taken me so long to discover this gem of a place! Saw Sleeping Beauty in the Wood with my lovely special needs friend. We both absolutely loved the show and everything about the theatre. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Will definitely be back again.....and again.....and again!

User

Dogs don't do ballet? Oh yes, they do!

Amazing performance. Never seen my 3 year old boy giggle so madly at a theatre performance. Utter delight!

The puppeteers were great, totally focused, with highly expressive mimic and made the plot interactive.

Can't wait for the next show!

User

Been going here since a little girl in the 60's where it always totally captivated me and it has continued to be a joy and pleasure to keep going and taking my own children and introduce many others over the years and see their faces glowing with excitement too. What a treasure in the midst of a world where media tends to take over. A true craft kept alive and such an inspiration and light for childrens hearts to know magic and beauty and storytelling at its best. Also the staff have always been and are just lovely too and clearly love the place they are a part of..

The happy warmth begins as soon as you skip up Dagmar Passage(still try to do that with my son as I did as a child) and enter the foyer full of anticipation ... :)

Long live this truly beautiful place-children and adults alike need it. x
