My former award winning business Castaway Tackle was founded in 1992. . . I started with £40 and a pasting table on Torksey car boot and went on to become one of the top 10 fishing retail outlets in the UK from my 4500 square foot unit based in Lincoln. Unfortunately I was forced to step away from that business but a business is only as good as its creator and the knoweledge. . . passion, enthusiasm /energy that drives it. Live Fish Dream has all of the above in abundance, I am and will always be an angler I love fishing whether I am dropping a live bait paternoster off a boat into a deep slack hole where a donkey of a pike may be lurking. . . barbel fishing watching the sun go down full of expectant /excited energy of what the coming night may bring. . . drifting down the mighty Ebrow with a good friend steering the Dingy attached to an as yet unseen leviathan. . way in excess of 100lbs as it tows us up river against the flow! . . Bivvied up on a monster filled lake laughing and chinking a beer with my fishing buddies. . . as we reminisce over great times had and whether the next run will smash our previous PB's. . . or simply waggler fishing for roach or pole fishing for carp to kill a couple of relaxing hours in the evening. . . fishing is. . has and always will be a part of my life.
Fishing has been good to me it has taken me all over the world and allowed me to fish and become friends with some great people who share that love and passion. . . Jan Porter. . . Matt Hayes. . . I am by nature an open and honest dude. . . old school I guess. . . my word is my bond and I always said that the first time you rip a person off or lie to them is the last time they use you and then all their friends to. . . I have always maintained that by taking care of you. . . you in turn take care of me and the pennies and pounds will take care of themselves.
I recently went back to my roots. . . driving my van back on to Torksey car boot over 20 years after I last stood their. . . it was a humbling and grounding experience but also inspirational and uplifting when old friends and customers turned up. . . I was reminded that is where the joy is laughing. . . talking. . . reminiscing and having some banter. . . I guess I will always be a market boy at heart. . . Life has been tough these last few years. . . losing my Father who gave me my love and passion for angling. . . my business. . my best mates son Ethan Maul. . . however we can't move forward looking back and sometimes you have to go down to those darkest depths. . . where there is no light. . . where you scrabble around blind and unfocused. . . because your meant to find something down there and then bring it back and share it. . . . WELL I AM BACK. . . (said in best Teminator voice) I am a stronger. . wiser. . more compassionate person because of what I have been and am still coming through. . . . life is a great teacher and YOU are your greatest asset! . . . the business name LIVE-FISH-DREAM was born from this ethos and journey. . .
