Stunning interiors that command peace, admiration and respect. The lights sculpt the space in a theatrical way while providing a sense of calm and refuge.

Beautiful cathedral with a peaceful atmosphere. Nice to go and sit and think away from the hustle and bustle of life. Gift shop has a vast array of items from roasaries to books. The café also do a nice selection of food and a great variety in soft drinks. One of my favourite places in Liverpool

The Cathedral is stunning, so calm and peaceful. The stained glass windows are lovely.Entrance to the Cathedral is free but it is worth £3 to go down into the crypt.Seeing the Cathedral from the outside we thought oh no ultra modern but once we stepped inside it was so beautiful.

Beautiful building inside and out. Peaceful and spiritual. The sort of building that overseas is a real tourist attraction, but having it on the doorstep in Liverpool it's easy to forget how stunning it is.

If you have spare time, do not miss a chance to visit this cathedral. Even though it might not be able to compare with the Anglican Cathedral 7-minute-walk away, it definitely has some charm, some unique characteristics in it.

Approaching the Cathedral from the Anglican Cathedral down Hope Street its very striking on how different the 2 cathedrals are.

On reaching Mount Pleasant, the Cathedral rises up majestically a flight of steps but for those less able go round the side of the Cathedral where there is a lift.

Inside the Cathedral, the stained glass fills the worship area with a multitude of colour and the circular configuration is very imposing.

Originally the Cathedral was going to be built to a design by Sir Edwin Lutyen and would have been the 2nd largest church in the world and has a crypt in fitting with the proposed size. This is usually open to the public but it was closed when we were there so unfortunately we couldnt visit it.

However, World War II interrupted the building and after the was the Luytens design was abandoned and replaced by one designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd. Building work recommenced in 1962 and was finished 14 May 1967.

From the outside it's an astounding piece of architecture and worth a quick walk around. Entrance is free but a donation is welcomed. Photography is permitted. Despite its circular layout the interior changes remarkably as you walk around. There are chapels and alcoves evenly spaced around the perimeter. In the centre, high above is the central stained glass spire. Sadly due to safety concerns there is a net underneath. It's a wonderful space to walk around & very peaceful. There is a cafe and amenities and a car park, which was full when I visited.
