Liverpool University Music Society (LUMS) is a musical society for instrumentalists and vocalists across the university. We consist of a number of different ensembles and are always willing to expand and introduce new ensembles to cater to everyone’s needs. We welcome all abilities of musician, encouraging musicians of any ability to continue their playing and practicing in a fun and social setting. We have regular rehearsals and host concerts throughout the year in which to showcase the society’s talent! We also host regular socials where you can meet like-minded, music-loving people!

Stage and Screen Orchestra
Stage and Screen Orchestra is now in its third year and has grown to be one of the biggest ensembles within LUMS. We are non-auditioned, a friendly group of people and everyone is welcome to come and play fantastic music from both the stage and the big screen.

University Singers
Liverpool University Singers are a diverse choir performing music from many genres and eras. If you enjoy singing, whatever your ability, you're sure to find something that interests you with us! We are a non-auditioned group and welcome students, non-students and university staff to join with no previous choir experience necessary.

Conducted by Rod Skipp from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Symphony Orchestra is a high quality but welcoming group of musicians. The orchestra is open to everyone, but some instruments may need to be auditioned for.

Show Choir
Formerly singing gospel music, Show Choir is an expanding new choir for all who love to sing and have fun whilst doing so. The choir is all-inclusive for all abilities with no prior choral singing experienced required; we are welcome for everyone!
We will be singing repertoire ranging from musicals to films and other great tunes!

Big Band
Liverpool University Big Band is a vibrant and dynamic jazz /swing band performing in and around the Merseyside area both publicly and at private functions. The band’s energy, passion, and talent is clear and includes musicians from the university's music department as well as the wider university community. Guaranteed to get everyone on their feet dancing all night long (we certainly won't be sitting! )

Concert Band
Concert band is one of the longest running ensembles in the society, and is growing every year. We play every style of music from jazz and pop to musical theatre, with input from all members that creates many enjoyable rehearsals and performances.

Chamber Choir
Chamber choir is a well-established choir singing both sacred and secular choral music. The choir holds yearly auditions during the first few weeks of term, and participates in concerts throughout the university across the year. The choir is a group of welcoming, fun people who love choral singing and we look forward to welcoming new members!

Percussion Ensemble
Percussion Ensemble is currently a small group (with room to expand) of crazy people who all share the enjoyment of hitting things to make, what we like to call, music. The ensemble is all-inclusive with no prior skills or experienced required. The group has previously performed pieces on broomsticks and dustbins with plans to work up to pieces of wood or even guttering.
If making noise sounds like fun, please come along and join in, the more the merrier.

University of Liverpool Acapella Choir
Acapella choir is in its second year now and we are a fun non-audition choir looking for all voices (and beatboxers! ) to join. We sing a range of songs, with plans to feature some Pitch Perfect and Pentatonix numbers! Most of all we're just a bunch of people who love to sing and hang out together. All are welcome so we'd love to see you there!
