This is a compact zoo focussing on marine life and conservation. Unusually, the birds are free to fly around the main large enclosure and also within large dedicated enclosures which you can walk through. There is a large colony of macaroni and African penguins, who are the stars of the show - don't miss the penguin feeding (10:30). The penguins are also free to roam, so you can get very close and also see them swimming underwater.

There are talks and feeding sessions all day, an underwater viewing area with glass tunnel and a variety of other popular animals: seals, stingrays, octopuses, seabirds such as auks and puffins and a pair of very playful otters.

Overall, I very much enjoyed this zoo and have been twice. It's good for a 3-4 hour visit and is likely to be very popular with children due to how close you can get to the animals, and is very child friendly. There's also a large canteen restaurant with excellent views of the bay. It is linked to the nearby excellent Paignton zoo and your ticket can be upgraded to visit both, which is worth it if you can!

We love our annual trip to the living coast. We've been at least once a year since 2012. It is not your usual sea life centre attraction. Take advantage of the free return within a week, ask for it on arrival.

Incredible day! Started with the Penguin Dive Experience which set the standard. Scrummy full English breakfast with unbeatable views. Incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming staff who truly took the overall experience to the next level. We love the work you do and will be back to support it.

Such a lovely zoo. I loved the fact it was by the coast so lovely views and the animals were great. The seals and penguins were my favourites (particularly when you get to stand next to a penguin on the decking). Great value for money and easy to access by public transport.

A very informative visit. A little small but its still good for a half day. They were having works done on the day we visited which was mentioned on their website. But the staff at the front desk almost changed our minds but over describing the disruption. I'm glad we choose to ignore them as it really didn't impact our experience!

A great place to kill a few hours in Torquay for all ages. Not a whole day trip, but there is plenty in the surrounding area when you are done. The staff are friendly and the place is well maintained.

Great family day where you can get close to the animals. Kids will love the sea lion feeding and to see the penguins and puffins so close. Reasonably priced admission with lots to see. Great educational visit.

Really nice and being able to walk among a lot of the birds, especially the penguins, is great. Really enjoyed it, the only thing they could improve on is cleaning the water as it's hard to see in some of the large tanks

It's hard not to like Living Coasts. Both the kids and adults alike love this place. So much we are actually thinking of getting an annual pass so we can visit as much as we like. Would highly recommend.
