Loss of spark of motivation in life
Careers change, retirement, early retirement issues, voluntary redundancy

Relationships are a very meaningful part of our lives, and can bring us a great deal of happiness. However, fulfilling and supportive relationships can be problematic and difficult at times, leaving you bewildered and unhappy, unsure how to move forward. Sometimes we feel betrayed or feel guilty for betraying another. We may be dealing with potential divorce or separation, bringing a whole range of feelings, anger, worry, stress, frustration, loss etc. Issues within immediate or wider family can cause difficulties. Anxiety and stress can develop for many reasons which maybe, work related, family, illness, death and loss, or worries about yourself or someone else, for example depression can come upon us quickly, or perhaps we have suffered alone for many years.

I can support you to gain insight into any problems you may be having, working within a supportive therapeutic relationship. In such a relationship it is possible to look at particular issues that are difficult for you or to explore less tangible feelings such as dissatisfaction and unhappiness. This can help you find out more about yourself and what choices you may have, to help you gain resolution and move forward in your life.

I offer skilled support to people who wish to work on specific challenges in their lives and to those who want to address more deep seated unhappiness.

I offer an holistic, person centred, humanistic therapy based on awareness, mindfulness and relatedness. I believe that people have an natural tendency towards health and that they make the best attempts possible to meet their own needs, and things can get in the way of our ability to live well to meet our needs and to face the challenges life has for us. Early in our life we learned ways of being that were the best we could do at the time with the resources we had. How we coped then does not serve us well now and sometimes what we coped with cannot be processed and moved on from without the necessary support.

In our work together you will work at your own pace, find out more about your emotions sensations, thoughts and actions, and you will explore how you can live a more satisfying life.

Gestalt psychotherapy

Gestalt therapy refers to a form of psychotherapy that is a relational therapy, every individual is a whole; mind, body and soul. People are best understood in relation to their current situation as he or she experiences it.

The approach combines this relational theory with present state - focusing strongly on self-awareness and the 'here and now' (what is happening from one
moment to the next). In gestalt therapy, self-awareness is key to personal growth and developing full potential. The approach recognises that sometimes
this self-awareness can become blocked by negative thought patterns and behaviour that can leave people feeling dissatisfied and unhappy.

It is the aim of a gestalt therapy to promote a non-judgemental self-awareness that enables people to develop a unique perspective on life. By
helping them to become more aware of how they think, feel and act in the present moment, gestalt therapy provides insight into ways in which people can alleviate their current issues and distress in order to aspire to their maximum potential.
