This is an appalling piece of journalism in regards to homebirths. It’s factually incorrect, on many accounts, for example, there are two midwives who attend homebirths and our paramedic colleagues support us well if a hospital transfer is needed.
Homebirths are safe. They are planned. If you watch ‘Call The Midwife’ they often mention the home visit for the pre-birth chat and assessment and that practise continues today.

What a week. I came home today after an eight night stay in hospital. I was diagnosed with Flu A which had triggered a severe asthma attack. I’m absolutely shattered and woozy but so glad to be home.
I cannot speak highly enough of the care I recieved at Watford General; the staff were so busy but so kind and attentive to me. I am so grateful for our fab NHS. It was very weird being on the other side.

Louise came to your home and went through everything we needed to know! When she left we felt a lot better about the whole thing especially being first time parents. She was very flexible with times and days and was a lovely experience. But I cannot thank her enough for all the support after my baby finally came! Being a first time parent I had no idea what to expect and how exhausting it all is and all these new feelings you have... but Louise was always an email away when I needed her and would always get back with any advice I needed. To be honest I was probably rather annoying and emailed every day for the first 10 days but she emailed back every time with helpful information and was always so lovely! Would highly recommend her to anybody! Thanks again Louise xx
