Dear all clients and to whom it may concern.
I am currently at the hospital with my amazing partner Emily Skelly. As many of you know, we are having a baby and we are waiting for the labour to start while going through the induction process.... please be patient with me, I will do my best to get back to everybody.
The little fella will be born this week! I will let everyone know whats going on regarding appointments and will do my best to get everyone sorted between Christmas and new year and afterwards.
thank you for all for being understanding,
regards

🤧🤧ATTENTION TO ALL CLIENTS🐎
With the current flu “crisis” I would like to advice you all to look at getting your horse vaccinated if it isn’t.
As for the people worrying, if your horse is vaccinated you don’t have much to worry about.
... Obviously if you think your horse has a flu virus I’d be happy to rebook. And move you appointment to stop the spread of the virus, I would also encourage you to seek a Veterinarian to tend to your horse.
Here is a link that tells you about the “crisis”. I don’t believe it’s a crisis because there are under 20 horses reported in the country that have flu. Most of were unvaccinated You must consider the amount of horses in the country.
https://www.beva.org.uk/…/…/UK%20flu% 20update%2005-02-19.pdf
The media has blown this out of proportion and social media has exacerbated to whole “epidemic” because a horse is Suffolk most likely in Newmarket has affected the racing world.
I’m sorry if this is a controversial opinion.
if you have any questions or concerns I encourage you to contact me and I will endeavour to help and make sure I do not carry the virus. I do not do any race horses and I also make sure I’m careful of horses with a snotty nose, mainly because of the spread of notifiable diseases and strangles.

This is my girl friend keeping me happy and looking after her horses feet. 🙂
I’m sure most of my clients have heard me recommend this to them. I honestly can’t recommend it enough. Once or twice a week before grooming to let it soak in.
... Edit: it’s iodine, but purple spray is just as good.

Here is two separate horses that I looked at today. I've had many people ask me what the white band is around the coronary band of their horses hooves.
This is the Periople.
... The Periople is a flexible junction between the hoof wall and the horses skin. It has a key function of regulating the moisture in the horses foot. On a day like today when the rain has set in and the feet have become saturated the Periople expands and stops more water entering the hoof capsule. This is the white band around the top of these neddy's feet :)
When the hoof is dry the Periople looks like a waxy skin like layer of over the proximal (top) aspect of the hoof capsule.

This was a job that I was a part of on my apprenticeship, I thought it would be interesting for people to see.
This is the remedial shoe that looks after the foot after the removal of a keratoma.
A keratoma is a rare, benign tumour of the keratin or horn-producing cells.... They come in two forms cylindrical or spherical, they can press against the pedal bone and cause lameness. They may need surgically removing like this one. Sometimes they don't cause any problems. In basic terms it's cancer of the horses hoof.
