Been a bit quiet here because 8 weeks in I've been a little busy joyously throwing my guts up every hour of the day! 🤢 One day at a time. One day at a time. Seven months to go. Eyes on the prize. Being held up by my amazing family and those who have walked/crawled this way before. Needless to say all #doula work is paused for the time being. Thanks for all your love. @pregnancysicknesssupport providing a lifeline for me yet again. If you are suffering too check them out 💕 #thisishg #debilitatingnausea #notmorningsickness https://ift.tt/2rgq91r

This. This is why #postnataldoula support is so important. Why I believe it's necessity not luxury. 💕 #takebackpostpartum #doula #motheringmothers #motherhoodrising https://ift.tt/2DFPrxC

Re-sharing these beautiful wise words from another Doula #gwennysgold today: Your Greatest Legacy💛 If you want your children to succeed, show them how to fail. If you want them to be happy, show them how to be sad. If you want them to be healthy, show them how to be sick. If you want them to have much, show them how to enjoy little. Parents who hide failure, deny loss, and berate themselves for weakness, have nothing to teach their children. But parents who reveal themselves,... in all of their humanness, become heroes. For children look to these parents and learn to love themselves. Parenting need not be a burden, and one more thing you have to do and don’t do well enough. Instead consider your failures, your sorrows, your illnesses, and your difficulties as your primary teaching opportunities. And some days it can all seems so much, a burden, one more thing to do. And then we are guided to read something, see someone or reflect and....perspective returns Your light grows, your energy rises and you play, smile, laugh. Together regardless. #postnataldoula #doula #differnentlyabled #motherhoodrising #parenting #breathloverepeat https://ift.tt/2OFv1Xm

The fifth annual MBRRACE-UK report of “Saving Lives, Improving Mothers’ Care” was published 1st November 2018. And I want to know where the media storm is?! These are UK facts!! Black women in our beloved NHS ARE FIVE TIMES MORE LIKELY TO DIE IN CHILDBIRTH... We must take action. Especially those of us who claim to support all women. Get educated. Get loud. This is not acceptable. For ourselves. For our sons and daughters. To read more you can download the full report, lay summary and the infograpic here: https://ift.tt/1Jr0mEY #blackmothersmatter #blackbirthmatters #thisistheuk #systemicracism #racialbias #nhs #birthworkers #checkyourprivilege #doula https://ift.tt/2F8Wf9j

I absolutely love holding the space for a #Mothersblessing . In our Western, materialist, secular, capitalist, patriarchal and rushed culture we hardly ever make time to mark rites of passage. Our ancestors knew the value of ritual, noticing and marking the seasons of the earth and those of human life. Creating ritual to honour changes such as menarche, pregnancy, birth, new motherhood, menopause, cronehood and any other major life events is incredibly powerful. It creates co...mmunity, allows for reflection, contemplation and gives us permission to explicitly express love to each other deeply and sincerely. If you are in your approaching the end of pregnancy it is a beautiful way to prepare for birth and will infuse you with love and confidence as you approach your babies birth. 🔻✨❤🔥🌒🌕🌘 #doula #postnataldoula #ritesofpassage #pregnantinbrighton #brightonmums #antenatalpreparation #ancestorsknowledge https://ift.tt/2AuiMJd

These five elements of #postnatalrecovery are widely acknowledged around the world and respected by Women caring for each other after birth. Where they are honoured women move forward into #Motherhood easier, healthier and happier. In our culture we often forget this simple healing knowledge. Hiring a Postnatal Doula will give you a chance to reclaim your right to postnatal wellbeing and change the way we look after each other postnatally. 💤🥗💆‍♀️🌳✨🙏🏻💖 #supportoptionsrespect #postnataldoula #doula #takebackpostpartum #4thtrimester #motheringmothers #motherstips #postnataltips #whatmumsreallywant #brightonmums #pregnantinbrighton https://ift.tt/2RTfwy1

As the last of todays sunrays set and darkness truly fell I took a moment to breath the night in and light a candle in memory of all the babies who do not make it earthside through miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death. Today marks the end of #babylossawarenessweek and I hope the #waveoflight brings some connection to grieving parents. Doulas support families experiencing loss and it's never too late to find one in your area. If you have/are experiencing a loss I hope yo...u know you are seen, that your babies are remembered, that you matter, that they matter and that you are so deeply loved. 🖤 And for the most beautiful @sacredbean - Isla Rose always in our thoughts and the light in our candle. Bet your poem reading was wonderful you mega mama! ❤ #blaw18 #stillbornstillloved #ihadamiscarriage #doula #postnataldoula #griefhasnohashtags #whatdoulasdo #whathealsyou #fullheartemptyarms https://ift.tt/2EnZidq

There is not much in the wild ride of #motherhood that can be as supportive as making friends with other women going through the same stage of parenthood as you. Those women who birth within a few months of you may just become a lifeline of commradery, company and laughter. Especially in those early days with your new bub, when all your old friends continue on with their lives and you might feel like you're on different 'Maternity-Leave' planet, with a totally different time ...zone. If you are yet to create your own Mama Team a #postnataldoula will be able to support you finding lots of local accesible groups so you can start to weave your own new network of mama-mates who will hold you up through all the lumps and bumps of parenting. 💕♀️✨ Image @spiritysol #doula #itsoktonotbeok #womensupportingwomen #mamahood #ittakesavillage #brightonmums #postnatal #4thtrimester #postnataltips #pregnantinbrighton #firsttimemum https://ift.tt/2pGdCUn

It seems to me that the decision to have a child becomes more and more momentous as each day passes. From the first time we start to actively imagine having a child to care for, before even conception, we begin an abrupt lesson in the art of surrender. Our bodies may not work as expected, our children's may not. This is how it is. As parents we commit to having our hearts walk around outside of our bodies and we learn the terrifying truth that control over the course of our l...ives and our children's is really an illusion. The more gently we can hold that fact the easier we will find our path. Faced with the overwhelming enormity of this thought we can ground ourselves with our breath and the waves on the beach. Surrendering to earth, sea and sky. What shall be, shall be. This is how it has always been. We are held by all the women who have been, all who are now and all who are still to come. You are not alone mama. ✨❤🔥 #surrender #motherhoodrising #doula #womensupportingwomen #womenswork #parentwithoutfear #breathloverepeat #oneconsciousbreath #yogini #brightonmums https://ift.tt/2O6J0tO

Lucy organised a wonderful Mother's Blessing for me ahead of the arrival of my second baby. She created such a loving, nurturing, and peaceful atmosphere among my dearest friends. I haven't felt so special since my wedding day! Lucy took care of all the planning and it was perfect. It was such a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to all pregnant mamas, and would recommend Lucy to organise it for you. Thank you Lucy! xx
