Yesterday with help from our volunteers we started to clear the orchid bank of grass and regrowth. This would normally be carried out at the end of the summer when our other meadows are cut, but due to weeks of inclement weather and the steepness of the slope we were unable to.
We remove the growth to reduce nutrient levels which allow wild flowers and orchids to flourish the following year.
