Beautiful place I visited for the first time , initially was impressed with a lovely looking place an the staff were nice enough...

Starters were decent enough but to be honest I was disappointed with the mains.. an to top it off one of us had a hair in our food , massive downer !!!!

Booked a table but they did not reserve the table I asked for which was disappointing . Service was ok but when the starters came out 2 of the crabs claws were still frozen in the middle so I sent them back . Iv been here before and it's a shame that the night wasn't as expected .

Mediocre service from the get go. After taking our order, we waited 40mins. We gave them benefit of the doubt as it was busy. Only when we flagged the waiter down to ask for the orange juice first (the table next to ours ordered an apple juice and got it right away) did he realise that we were still waiting on our food.



He went away, and came back with his ordering pad and apologised that the order didn't go through the system and retook our order. We were quite frustrated by this point as we didn't felt like we were looked after. The waiter took the orange juice off the final bill but we hardly think that £1.20 juice a just compensation for having to wait (by now) an hour for our food.



He could have at least also asked my partner if he wanted a tea or coffee on the house while we waited.

He wasn't very apologetic, and we don't think he handled the situation well. There was a lack of communication between the waiters as another waitress approached us not long after to ask us if we were waiting on food, and when we finally got our food we would have appreciated a "sorry for the wait".



While I understand that accidents happen, Lydia Cafe can do better to train their staff to handle these incidents better. We felt like they brushed the incident aside, and that ruined the meal. We tried to give feedback to the counter staff when we went to pay but she didn't understand us.



The food was decent but I won't be returning.
