Have you tried out the new play park at Frimley Lodge Park? What did you think?

Mrs Pearson was named 'Manager of the Year' at the Connect Catering Awards last year, but what is your child's favourite lunch at Lyndhurst?

Last term year 4 made replica Ancient Egyptian cartouches in their design and technology lessons. Firstly they had to learn how to write their names in hieroglyphics. Then they made their cartouche out of clay and wrote their Egyptian names on them. Finally they painted the cartouches using acrylic paints.

It is our aim that every child should have the best possible learning opportunities to fulfil this, we provide an environment in which all children, including those with special educational needs, are supported and encouraged.

University Challenge has got nothing on us! The Annual Lyndhurst School House Quiz took place last week in a ‘hot-house’ – quite literally – of questions and answers.
After a valiant battle, Yorktown were victorious! Well done Yorktown!

We had a brilliant Kindergarten Sports Morning yesterday. The children started off with their warm up game which involved walking the tightrope, making balancing shapes, swinging on a trapeze and climbing a rope. We moved on to our five activities – target practice, agility which involved going through hoops and stepping through a ladder on the ground, throwing and catching, balancing and keeping a balloon up in the air. The children completed their activities beautifully and, most importantly, with a smile on their faces! We finished off with some very energetic running races and a Spanish game where each child had to join the line to become part of the snake’s body. It was lots of fun and there were no tears! Thank you children for your hard work this morning.

Last week saw the 'Bring and Buy' sale return to Lyndhurst, with Year 6 having spent the week sorting and organising the items brought in by the rest of the school to go on sale. Come Thursday morning, in the glorious summer sun, we set up our tables in the playground and arranged the vast wealth of objects out to be sold. We had expected to do well, an to sell most of the items brought in; but we were not ready for the huge numbers of children who came clutching their purses..., wallets and piggy banks! Year 6 were superb – they helped younger children look for specific items, they were fantastic at counting out money and giving change, and they would have made Del Boy proud with the deals that they offered.
In the end, we managed to sell everything. All of the amazing items that were brought in to raise money for charity were sold to loving new homes. A huge thank you for helping to supply the Bring and Buy sale with items, and a massive well done to Year 6 for their hard work.

From Reception to Year 6 had a fabulous Sports day at the The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst ! Everyone enjoyed their day and there was fantastic effort and sportsmanship all round. Lyndhurst pupils did the staff proud and it was evident that they had all made great improvements in sport throughout the year. The day started with a fabulous Zumba warm-up and an excellent house parade! The 600m race was a close one and it was excellent to have some strong year 3s and 4s participate this year! At the end of the day all children performed a revamped version of last years dance! There was some excellent flossing and it was wonderful to see all the children having such fun! The overall winners were Tekels, a huge well done to them.

We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our trip to Bocketts Farm Park last week. Fran, our guide for the day met us in the coach park. We left our lunch in a safe place so that the birds couldn’t eat it and we had a safety talk. Our first activity was the animal handling session. We stroked a rabbit, a chicken and two guinea pigs – they were all very soft. Next Betty the goat was milked and we felt the jug to see what the temperature of the milk was. We discovered it... was warm, not cold like the milk that comes out of the fridge. The next stop was a brief one – meeting the racing pigs although they were all sleeping so it was hard to tell who was going to win in the race. The tractor ride was so exciting! Many of the children had smiles on their faces as we sat on the trailer and got pulled around a section of the farm by a tractor. It was very bumpy! The really important part was next – lunchtime. The birds did come to try to steal our food so we fed them a little bit. Then it was off to support our two pigs in the pig racing. Voldersnort was the blue pig and Lewis Hamilton was the red pig (our school colours). We cheered really loudly and the blue pig won – hurray! Lastly we of course had to have a play in the play area before we headed back to Little Lyndhurst. Thank you to Bockett’s farm for a lovely day and for the parents and grandparents who came with us to help!

This week Year 2 had the opportunity to visit Pizza Express . It was a fantastic trip and the children learnt lots about Margarita Pizzas! They all made their very own pizzas and they looked very yummy! The children all behaved brilliantly and received a headmasters plus for behaving well and being polite. We said a huge thank you to the helpers at Pizza Express as they were fantastic too. Love Camberley #lovecamberley
