Lyndon Methodist Nursery

Little hands have been busy turning these boxes into works of art! We've been having great fun using various bits and bobs and making dinosaurs, boats and even a spaceship. Thank you, parents, for bringing in your recycling for us to transform.

We're back! We have kicked off the new year with look at traditional tales. For the next few weeks we will be exploring some of our favourite stories in lots of different ways. So far we have been trying our hands at using scissors, investigating size, getting creative with porridge playdough and so much more!

Well, what a week we have had here in nursery! Making edible Christmas tree cones, writing and posting Christmas cards, lots of singing and dancing AND a surprise visit from none other than Father Christmas to round off the week. Lyndon Nursery would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year and thank everyone for their wonderful cards, presents and kind words. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the week beginning 7th of January 2019!

Lyndon Nursery is getting into the festive spirit this week with our very own grotto! As always, we have been taking our cue from the children and making giant tree collages, posting Christmas cards, making extra-glittery playdough sculptures and getting musical with the jingle bells. We've even been decorating the room, with help from little hands of course!

Exploring ice yesterday was so much fun, our little learners were amazed and there was some fantastic language being used. Taking the children's lead, we eventually had to break out the tools to help free the frozen toys. Thank you to one of our lovely volunteers for providing this chilly opportunity. ❄️❄️❄️

We had great fun today at our last regular 'Stay and Play' of the year. We will back again on Wednesday the 9th of January. Next week (12th December) is our Christmas session, pre-booked places only. If you still wish to attend and haven't yet booked your place just drop in before 11am on Friday 7th December.

Lyndon Methodist Church Christmas Fayre is on Saturday and you can meet Santa for free! We hope to see you there!

We have had a very musical time this week! We have made our own musical instruments using things you can find around the house and then had an instrument party!

The children are having a fun filled week learning about Autumn 🍁🍂🍃. Today we have been getting messy using natural resources to make prints 😄 The children have enjoyed seeing what different pattens they can make. As well helping to encourage their communication skills, by talking about the different textures, objects they have used and asking them open ended questions. 👍

Well, hello Autumn! This week in nursery we have been thinking about this glorious season. So far we have been printing with apples, exploring leaves, feathers and conkers and talking about all the changes we can see around us.

Today at nursery we have been finding shapes everywhere! We even found a few shapes in our story today, like the diamonds on the giant's socks.

This week has started off with wild animals, a vet's surgery and a jungle phone. We read 'The very hungry caterpillar' by Eric Carle (always a favourite) after being inspired by play in the garden.

From excavating dinosaur skeletons in the sand to exploring ramps and slopes with the cars, we have had a busy few days at nursery. 'Play is the highest form of research' - Albert Einstein

So far this week we have been getting creative with the playdough. Little hands have been exploring textures, colours and scents and dazzling staff with their creations :)

My son started Nursery here in September and loves it! It's such a friendly setting and all the staff are very caring and approachable. My 5 year old daughter also went here and still talks fondly of her time there. Highly recommended �
