Travel Insurance zzzzzzzz, I know I know, how did I go from California to Travel Insurance? Stay awake - I have an important point to make!
So, it's one of those things that you need, full stop. But, did you realise that you need to make sure that you have it at point of booking?
Most people think about it just before they travel, imagining their luggage going missing or perhaps the terrors of untold medical bills should they need hospital treatmeant whilst abroad.
... However, travel insurance isn't just about protection whilst on holiday. It offers financial protection against cancellations - those things that happen when we least expect it.....an illness or bereavement for example which prevents you from taking the trip.
So, don't forget - take out insurance at the time of booking.
Just saying....

Coming back from a holiday is always difficult but we’ve had such a great time and it’s possibly been the best holiday yet.
As many of my friends and family know, we are generally super organised with holidays and have them lined up as far as the flights calendar will allow.
We loved Laguna Beach in California and will definitely go back. So, I’m thinking of putting together a San Fran down to Laguna Beach road trip for next year.
... Easter is a little earlier next year and I’ve just found flights with a super price with a business class upgrade for the overnight return flight.
So the question will be put to a family vote this weekend.
Here’s hoping!

We’ve had an amazing first couple of days in Southern California
breakfast at an oceanfront cafe watching dolphins play, to surfing, cycling along Newport Beach boardwalk, cocktails at Tommy Bahamas, great fresh food.
Laguna Beach and the surrounding area has a lot to offer and we are just getting started!

And because I did the laundry (how American do I sound!) I get to indulge in pre dinner activities.....:beer, snacks and a couple of games of pool. Living the American dream I tell you!

Do you know why cowboys drink beer and shoot tequila in large quantities - I do following a 4.5 hour fast ride. I actually feel like my legs have been removed and put back on, back to front. Jeez. I can assure you I have now perfected the full John Wayne walk.
Line ‘em up cowboy - I am broken!

Howdy!
A coffee with the horses, a mountain trail and a fast ride which was exhilarating yet nerve wracking! Custer is a feisty one and likes any opportunity to gallop when really he should be loping. E-biking, hayride out to bbq, a rodeo and the all important end of day Corona!
It is so, so good but a few important points to take into consideration:... - you do need a cowboy hat. Regardless if you think you look a bit daft. Embrace it! - my ankle grazer jeans just don’t cut it out here unless you’ve got tall boots!Revert back to the 90s and get yourself a pair of boot cut jeans that are long in length - Leather boots for all and again, whilst you’re at it, make them cowboy boots. Stops the cactus needles piercing your ankles and the rattle snakes biting them. Seriously, I’m not kidding! - checked shirts with long sleeves - even though it’s super hot, cover up your skin where possible. - bring yourselves a neck tie that you can soak in ice - keeps you cool for the length of your ride and it’s one of the only ways you can accessorise if that your thing!! - it’s more dusty than you can ever imagine, you need to drink more water than you thought was possible, the night skies are beyond beautiful.
Night y’all

Having arrived in Phoenix we took the short 20 minute drive to Scottsdale and the enchanting Royal Palms Resort and Spa for a couple of days R&R. There’s such a relaxing vibe here, attentive service and just a short drive into Old Scottsdale for an array of great restaurants and breakfast haunts. And I hear the golf here in Scottsdale is pretty good too!

Whilst there are many, many places in the world that are on my bucket list, I never take for granted the beauty of the UK and the many advantages of staying on home soil. Here are a few ideas if you fancy holidaying in the UK this year.
