Lyng Multi Sports Area & Field

This land behind Lyng Village Hall, is managed by Lyng Parish Council as a playing field in perpetuity. It contains a Football Pitch, a floodlit Multi Sports Area, and a Playground - facebook.com/LyngPlayground

In 2000 the Floodlit Multi Sports Area was built with grant aid and is available for hire for football teams, tennis coaching, short cricket, five-a-side football tournaments and children’s birthday parties.

In 2009 the children’s play area was opened. Parents in the local community worked hard to raise funds, with the help of various grants, and they continue to maintain and monitor this very popular playground.

Lyng United Football Club used the football pitch regularly on the main field before they folded in February 2017.

We are part of FIT (Fields In Trust), which was founded back in 1925 as the National Playing Fields Association by King George V. Their mission is the same now and as it was then: to ensure that everyone – young or old, able or disabled and wherever they live – should have access to free, local outdoor space for sport, play and recreation. These spaces are vital to building happy and healthy communities and sadly continue to be threatened by all kinds of development.
