We saw this hotel in Birmingham before and wanted to stay here the next time ... it was our anniversary we absolutely loved it from the time we arrived to the time we left !! Lovely decor even tho a bit shabby in places but I can over look the odd peeling paintwork ... lovely room comfy beds and clean up to date bathroom .. the dinning room and service spot on !! There will defo be a next time
Perfect overnight stay. Lovely comfy bed, large and stylish room and very tasty breakfast. Central position for shops and railway. What more can you ask for!
My bedroom was very comfortable. A shower over the bath and fluffy robes in the bathroom. The Bed was huge and very comfortable and the room I was in was quiet. A really lovely range of toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was nice, I had a full English breakfast by room service and a call to advise me it was on its way was much appreciated.
The staff are really lovely and I will stay here again and I would definitely recommend it to my friends and visitors, A great Central location, literally 20 seconds from New Street train station. Several car parks are available very near by.
Great central location for Birmingham - right opposite Grand Central. Easy accessibility to the Bull Ring, Mailbox as well as a great restaurants and bars.
An original Midland Hotel with period features still visible - a great bar and the rooms are well-proportioned.
Gorgeous hotel. Professional staff. Spotless room. The bed was huge and very comfortable
We ate at The Scottish steak grill which is psrt of the hotel. Excellent food and service. Excellent breakfast.. can not fault this hotel at all.
Excellent service today at the breakfast - lovely room too.
Arrived at the hotel, quick check in friendly staff, our room was the best we've stayed in, big high ceiling room lovely decor very clean, lovely modern large impressive shower room, the hotel is in the best location for a day/night out in Birmingham City centre. We have stopped in most of the hotels round the city but this is great, good breakfast too. We stopped on the 3rd floor. Excellent stay.
A warm friendly welcoming hotel which full-fills your every need as a costumer. Such a pleasure to stay there for two nights definitely recommend either if its for a business trip, romantic getaway, birthday treat. I am sure they will make your stay as fantastic as mine was!
We originally booked this hotel only on a price basis as it was the cheapest hotel to stay New Year's Eve 2017 -better rates even than the normal budget big chain hotels. I was incredibly impressed, the walk from the car park was less than 7 minutes and arrived to a very clean room very well presented. All staff were courteous and very eager to help. The room was a bit small but more than adequate, complimentary toiletries were good quality. Breakfast was included and again high quality -prompt service and well cooked. The only downside was an absence of parking-expected in a central location hotel but we stayed in the bull ring car park which was the closest but very expensive-we would find somewhere else to park next time. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would willingly go back and stay another time.
Really liked the hotel, which was the old Midland Railway Hotel. Lots of marble on the big staircase. The rooms are good and very clean. Staff were helpful when my booking, via an agent, did not have a breakfast added as requested. This was all sorted quickly and without cost. The breakfast, although small, was well cooked and staff were attentive when ordering preferences. Al in all a very relaxing stay.
Lovely old building right across the road from New Street station. The hotel is big, high ceilings and well presented. Rooms clean, well stocked (e.g towels, toiletries, bottled water, steam iron and ironing boad) and comfortable...bed especially cosy. Breakfast was plentiful ...I had a three egg omelette with the choice of as many fillings as I liked...also offered a widish selection of continental breakfast....toast arrived hot...well impressed with that. Was attending a Ball the evening before. Lovely and cool in the Ballroom with cook us amounts of iced water supplied to refresh us after dancing and wine!
Almost every single member of staff was extremely helpful, friendly and polite...just one who could have given that little extra welcome and help...not rude, maybe having a bad evening. We are o ly human after all. On the other hand the front of house gentleman at breakfast was delightful...just the right amount of warm convivial humour and welcome...an asset to any hotel...he gave a 7 stars service. Oh and yes, the night potter on the desk who offered to charge my phone for an hour and bring it to my room, when done.
The hotel is not perfect...but is was was more than value for money! Truely e noted my stay. The hotel has charm and I am particularly impressed that it DONATES 71% OF ITS PROFITS TO CHARITY!
I will certainly stay there again without question and recommend it to my friends.
Lovely hotel, warm welcome and happy to provide a âhappy birthdayâ plate of chocolate in our room for my partner. Receptionist Jack remembered who I was and got it all sorted for me which was a nice personal touch. Room was spotless and huge, especially the bed! The bathroom was lovely with plenty of towels, the only grievance i would have is that the place is huge and itâs defintely easy to get lost... I ended up trying to get in the kitchen! Haha! We would definitely stay again đ¤
Lovely building in great location. Not a 5 star review as a few things stopped that, no soap at all in the bathroom, had to use shower gel to wash hands !!! Noisy heating/ air con. Receptionist not unduly friendly. The rest of the staff very welcoming and extremely comfortable bed. With a bit of tweaking Iâd rate it 5.
A lovely bar and lounge, an oasis in a busy city. Staff are always polite and helpful. A great place to spend time with friends, drink, eat and enjoy !
A little dysfunctional. Forgetting things like milk with the tea, basic stuff like that. Take ages to serve dinner. But it's got a lot of character and rooms are comfy enough. Very handy for New Street train station.
Room was very comfortable. Shower over bath and fluffy robes in bathroom. Bed was very comfortable and the room we was in was quiet. Lovely range of toiletries, lavender & tea tree. Breakfast was nice, smoked haddock with poached eggs for me was a winner. Husband had full English and the sausages were scrummy. Hot food cooked to order, usual cold foods including fruit , cereals, pastry etc. Service at breakfast was slow.
Ncp car park is only a 5 minute walk away if you know where you're going.
I would stay again and I would recommend it to visitors, great Central location, literally 15 seconds from New Street train station if you exit via the doors just beyond Joy.
Great location, right near train station and main part of town, breakfasts are Ok, other meals not so great, rooms are small for two people
The hotel is lovely, stunning even. So why the low score? Fancy architecture doesnât replace getting the basics right. Firstly I had maybe 2 hours unbroken sleep. You expect a bit of air-con noise but it was like having a diesel generator in the room next to me. Not just noise but you could feel it resonating through the walls. My air-con was turned off but it looked like some sort of industrial plant outside the window. Shoving a pillow over my head made no difference. The breakfast setup is strange. Waited to be seated as told by the sign then I was directed back out into the bar area and told âhelp yourself to continentalâ. I grabbed some cereal assuming that a sit down cooked breakfast in the restaurant must not be included with my room. I asked in the bar area for a spoon and the guy replied âfor?â In a rather abrupt way. I said âfor my breakfastâ to which he replied âplease go to the restaurant to eat, this is the barâ. Soooo why are you directed there? I went back into the restaurant and sat down. I ordered some egg on toast. The toast was basically warmed up bread. Both glasses on the table were filthy, like covered in greasy finger smudges. I overheard another table complaining about tier food. Then when you check out of a hotel the basics of customer service would be to ask âdid you have a pleasant stay?â or âwas everything ok for you?â. Nothing. I said I was checking out and the lady just said âroom number?â, took my card then turned away. If I was given the chance to simply comment on the noise it would have been said and done. But instead I came away with the feeling that the staff didnât really care at all, hence my comments here. Itâs a lovely building with impressive rooms but I have had better experiences in the likes of travel lodge and holiday inn.
I arrived in Birmingham at 7:15pm tired after a 3 hour drive, but couldn't seem to be able to find the way in my car to the hotel. I was going crazy for an hour going round paradise circus, but I knew they had parking at the hotel as it said so on the website I booked through. After an hour I gave up and called the hotel and found that they had been economical with the truth about their parking, they had a reduced rate with the NCP car park 10 minutes away. Now I chose a hotel with on site parking as I have a chronic back condition, as I could not carry my luggage for long distances. I am dissatified with this hotel as they lie to customers, causing aggravated injury in some cases ďż˝
