£16.30 for a large glass of red wine and a pint!!!!
Makes London look cheap. Nice location, nice staff but £13 for a glass of red wine, and an average wine at that, is obscene.

Beautiful pub, we only popped in for a drink after a nice walk. Very friendly staff, the food smelt amazing but be warned it is not a cheap place for food or drinks.

A lovely situation with wonderful views from our room of Helm Crag. Also handy for the bus either towards Windermere or Keswick. Room nicely decorated but the wash basin was only about 3 ft high!? Very disappointed with the food - the fish pie had boiled over its small container and was presented as if a volcanic explosion had taken place; the beef had the thinnest lid of pastry ever seen - tiny portions, not good at around £15 each! Wine here very expensive. In fact, food prices generally throughout Grasmere very expensive! and not a single pub in the village - all cafes and bistros. However the hotel staff at morning breakfast were amazing! - cheerful, polite, attentive, excellent all round!

Recently refurbished the room we stayed in was lovely, airy, clean and a great view of the hills. The staff were really helpful, couldn't do enough. Eat an evening meal and though not cheap as all the sides are additional costs the quality was very good. Drinks at the bar are London prices but the selection was good. All in all excellent in my opinion.

We only stayed one night and were given a lovely room overlooking the garden. The room was lovely and clean, spacious and comfortable, recently refurbished I think. We enjoyed a freshly cooked full breakfast in the morning made with all local produce.... wonderful !

Enjoyed our stay here. Nice room. Food was fine but not great choice, geared to bar food, which absolutely fine. Good value overall.

The rooms are spacious, but somewhat tired. Especially for the price of them. The staff are very friendly. The food was good. They are very welcoming to dogs. The location is just out of grasmere, but a nice easy walk.

Extremely friendly & efficient service in this very relaxing hotel! The food, decor & ambience are delightful! We will definitely return & wish to thank Anthony & his team all the very best for 2017
