We are delighted to introduce our female soloist for Rodgers & Hammerstein on the Silver Screen: Emma Torrens.
Emma recently graduated from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she was fortunate enough to play roles such as; The Arbiter (Chess), Paulina (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) and the title role of Evita, as well as taking part in the original “Raintown” and “The Women of William” workshops.
In her final year, Emma was the recipient of the Ian Flemin...g Scholarship award and nominated for the SSSPOTY award. Since graduating, Emma has taken part in a workshop for Playwright’s Studio Scotland and toured Dorset with Arena theatre’s one-woman production of “Fleabag”.
Prior to training, Emma worked with several local companies in her home county of Dorset, and featured in many productions where she was able to excercise her skills before coming into full-time training. Perhaps her biggest achievement was playing ‘Christine’ in the UK’s first amateur production of ‘Phantom of the Opera’, whilst studying underneath Jon Andrew; internationally renowned tenor.

Who was Richard Rodgers?
From The Sound of Music to Oklahoma! to South Pacific, Richard Rodgers helped change the face of Broadway musicals, giving them stories and making them both memorable and "hum-able." Richard Rodgers was the most successful composer of popular music for the theater in the 20th century.
Rodgers's collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein II began in 1942 and would last until Hammerstein's death in 1960.
... Today, Richard Rodgers is credited with writing between 900 and 1,500 songs, an estimated 85 of which are considered standards. To date, 19 film versions of his musicals have been made. As one critic put it, "Probably not a day goes by without a show of his being performed somewhere in the world."
