Today was our quarterly work party. Even though we started off with not major amounts to do, the team seemed to get an awful lot done. So well done everyone who helped. A special thanks to mildly moist Richard Cradduck who went the extra mile to check the temperature and depth of the water where the floating island normally is. Sorry to say we did not get any photos of this momentous occasion. But he even returned to the lake after popping home for a full change of clothes, to help complete more works on the floating island.

Just a little project for a Monday evening. Myself , Mark Whyatt , Geoff the wildlife photographer. Started building a new island. There is no way this one will capsize. Got a lot more bits to add to it yet, i.e. timber, mesh sides, duck house (relocated from the island) then all the plants from the old island.

Could I please remind members that if at any time you lose tackle up trees or the overhead wires, you need to inform myself or Mark ( our phone numbers are on the sign at the gate) or speak to Colin when he walks round. We had an issue today, where a magpie had tried to pick up a boilie from one of the trees next to peg 16. It was of course still attached to a full rig, so was well hooked in its beak. Colin and member ivan had to reach for the branch and break it off, then try and unhook the poor thing. It did fly off once colin and ivan had removed the offending tackle. So please please inform one of us as soon as you have finished your session, just let us know where the tackle is and we will remove it as soon add one of us gets there. Thanks

Well I decided at 6pm myself and Zak would go down the lake for an hour, so that Zak could do some target practice with his air rifle. Got to the lake, where to my surprise ( NOT ) Mark Whyatt was there doing some pruning. We sat and chatted for a bit whilst Zak was shooting his rifle. Then the conversation turned to if we could remember where we had planted a rhododendron Bush. 30 min later after cutting or way up the bank behind peg 17, we found the said plant and clear...ed around it. But we're did not stop there, oh no, then we burnt out some reeds on pegs 1 and 3. After we cleared up the mess wer had made on peg 1, we discussed the idea of rebuilding it at some point and how we would do it to make the most of it. Well one thing led to another, so come Sunday afternoon it should be finished. This is how we spend our free time. We're a pair of idiots I think

Well what a lovely day today was, we had our monthly match today. Only 6 people fished, but were all did well. Total weight for the match was 75lb5oz, with a winning weight of 32lb . This weight all came out to double maggot from peg 16(end of the island) . 1st place Mike Andrews jnr 2nd place Trevor Oldfield Well done to all those who took part today, we would love to see some different faces at the matches..
... These matches help us see just how well the water is doing stock wise. They are open to all members aswell as some guest anglers. The cost is only £5.00 for members and £10 for guest anglers. £5.00 from every one goes into the prize fund, which is then split between 1st and 2nd positions. We have a match every 2nd Sunday of the month, so why not come along and have a day at the lake and see how many fish you can catch. 9am until 3pm normally. Only one rod can be fished at a time, you decide how you want to fish, once a year the match is a float rod only and another is a carpless match. All match dates are posted on here or the website. Thanks Steven

Disabled members fishing. Could we please remind members to be more mindful and courteous of members who are fishing pegs 21 and 22. We use these pegs for our members who can't get to other swims. I had a conversation with Carpy Sam this morning, and walked away at the end of our conversation very upset. He turned up at the lake last Sunday at his normal time of 6.30am and parked up behind peg 21. Two other members who I shan't name, turned up not long after Sam. They ...proceeded to set up on pegs 1 and 2. Fair enough you may think, but NO. Peg 1 member decided his two carp rods were going to be just to the right of peg 21( between reeds and sluice) and right in the middle of the water in front of Sam's swim. Peg 1 then walked round from peg 1, past Sam and proceeded to bait up where he'd cast him line too. Sam being the guy he is, was totally dumfounded. So just gave up, started his car and went home angry. Now I know you all know this is just unacceptable behaviour, and it's only the actions of two members. I do blame them both, as the other member on peg 2 should of said something to his fishing buddy. I will be giving the office these members names, I'll leave it for them to decide the outcome. Anyway on a brighter note, members are already renewing for next season. So please get your membership cards in the post for renewal and signing off by the office. No signed card, no fishing. As bailiffs, the only way we can know if you are a paid up member is by your membership card. SO IF REJOINING, SEND IN YOUR PAPERWORK. PLEASE
Rant over Cheers Steven
