About Malaysian Progressives United Kingdom - Mpuk

Malaysian Progressives in the United Kingdom (MPUK) aims to encourage the youth to talk about politics without fear.

Malaysian Progressives United Kingdom - Mpuk Description

Young Malaysians are becoming increasingly disillusioned by politics. This comes at an untimely moment when the youth will play the role of a kingmaker in the next few general elections.

Malaysian Progressives UK aims to remind Malaysians of our centrality in nation building irrespective of our geographical location and in doing so collect and channel the voices, opinions and actions of progressive Malaysians onto one platform.

We strive to provide a safe platform for progressive thinking for all Malaysians regardless of race, religion, gender, age or political affiliation in the struggle for a brighter future for all Malaysians.

'GE14 was thus not the ‘Malay tsunami’ that incoming (and returning) Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad so irresponsibly called for. Nor was it a ‘Chinese tsunami’, as Najib dubbed BN’s 2013 loss of the popular vote in such an incendiary fashion. It was more like a modernisation tsunami.'
'Credit for GE14 should go to the tireless activists and opposition politicians who began braving the iron claws and filed teeth of the Mahathir regime in the late 1990s, and in some cases even the late 1980s. Unlike actual tsunamis, modernisation tsunamis are made over the long haul by men and women — those with the courage to translate socioeconomic transformation into a freer politics for their countrymen and countrywomen. This victory is theirs.'

An insightful article.
"A consultant who was in Najib’s office as the reality of the defeat sank in said the prime minister was stunned. “When he knew that the numbers were not on his side, Najib broke down,” he said."

Women of merit are left unnoticed as a product of a predisposed bias in favouring men to be leaders. Having 30 percent women's representation in the cabinet would be a step forward. Time for progression is now, hear us out.

Alhamdulillah, our campaign for Pakatan Harapan in the 14th General Election has paid off. We hope their reform agenda proposed will be prioritised for our country's progress as that is what our country desperately needs.
Last but not least, we thank the youth for making a difference this time around.
Here is our joint statement with Pakatan Harapan United Kingdom & Ireland.
