I will be a bit slow replying to messages from Sunday for a few weeks because I’ll be on this island. As you can all imagine, reception isn’t great!! Hope you all have a fab summer. Xx #holiday #offthegrid #familytime #remotelife #doula

Although I have already been identifying younger ties for some time now it feels good to have refreshed and deepened my knowledge. #tonguetie #finished #helpingbabies #helpingfamilies #doula #breastfeedingsupport #worcestershire

We often talk about labour lasting hours and that can feel really daunting if it’s your first pregnancy. Labour however come in waves and only lasts 1 minute with time to relax and recover in between. The time to relax is much longer than the time of the contractions. Changing your focus to the relaxing period can really help you prepare for a positive birth experience. #labour #contractions #pregnancy #positivebirth #takecontrol #mindovermatter #youcandoit #doula #worcestershire #thecityofworcester

It can be utterly heart breaking when reality was far from the dream. The cultural pressure to forget about it and to be happy that everything was alright in the end can feel overwhelming. It’s therefore important to look after yourself by finding a safe place to tell your story and allow yourself to grieve. You need to talk about it, maybe again and again to be able to work through it. It’s a natural and normal feeling that you share with millions of other women around the world. Find them. Tell your story. #findyourtribe #birthtrauma #pnd #talkaboutit #birth #worcestershire

I spend a lot of time preparing my clients mentally for their birth. Yes the practical things get covered too, but when the birth is upon them, it’s their mind which will have the biggest impact on their experience. #mindovermatter #themind #beprepared #birth #pregnant #doula #birthcoach #worcestershire

There were so many highlights at today’s ABM conference, but this is my favourite quote from today. #abmconf19 #queermum #quotes #hadagreatday #families

Most of the women I see when I’m in breastfeeding support role have gone to some sort of birth class. Which is great to hear. Women need the support. But no one has taken a course for what comes next. The reality of having a baby! If you find yourself with a baby and struggling, you can hire a postnatal Doula. I have plenty of baby experience to help you through those first weeks and months. #doula #doulauk #doulasupport #postnatalsupport #worcestershire #thecityofworcester #breastfeeding #breastfeedingsupport

Consultants are often simply using the correct medical terms for the risks of a certain pregnancy complication. These words are words we do not want to hear in relation to our baby or birth and can be very distressing. It’s especially stressful if you didn’t understand the nature of your appointment and may have attended on your own. If you have an upcoming appointment, then try and speak to your midwife first to get an idea of the type of things which may come up. Being prepared will help immensely to deal with the information given to you. #pregnancy #birth #pregnancycomplications #beprepared #hospitalappointment #doula #worcestershire #thecityofworcester

If you think something isn’t quite right, with yourself or baby, in pregnancy or after birth then tell someone. Many mums get this eerie sixth sense about what is right and what is not and it’s usually the first clue. Don’t let anyone send you away. If they don’t listen, find someone who does. #muminstinct #sixthsense #pregnancy #newborn #baby #tellsomeone #youknowbest

It doesn’t matter what problem a woman has after having her baby, feeding difficulties or scar tenderness for example, or no problems at all; feeling lonely will most likely make everything feel very overwhelming. In our society we are suddenly quite isolated when we have our babies and that’s difficult to deal with. The production of oxytocin makes us want to widen our social networks, but how do we do this? I run meet ups every month and am also at most of the breastfeeding support sessions in Worcester together with NHS breastfeeding support workers. Those are quite good places to start. You can also hire me as a postnatal doula to help you navigate this new world. #feelinglonely #doulasupport #postnataldoula #worcestershire #thecityofworcester #womensupportingwomen #newborn #lifewithanewborn #strongertogether

As some of you know I also run @thebirthandbreastfeedingclub and organise meet-ups for pregnant and breastfeeding women in Worcester. I’ve planned the next one for June. It’s a good opportunity to meet other mums or me if you’re thinking of getting a Doula. #womensupportingwomen #doulasupport #meetme #worcestershire

A few days in Edinburgh with the family. Though I had to be quick to get a photo while the sun was out. It’s otherwise rather wet and windy in these parts! #holiday #edinburgh #sunshine #familytime

I was lucky to be invited to talk to them about breastfeeding. Maybe some of it made them uncomfortable, they’re only 18-19, but it was so important for both them AND me. It’s easy to forget that at that age I really didn’t have a clue about most things birth and breastfeeding related and yet I was an adult woman. I hope all communities can come together and share the magic and skills we have with the younger generation so they feel empowered when it’s their turn to have a baby. #worcesterdoula #doula #worcestershire #youngwomen #teachinglifeskills #breastfeeding #thecityofworcester

So lovely to be thought of and invited by a fab midwife @double.aitch71 who’s working so hard for her community. Real honour to be asked and made to feel so welcomed. #lovewhatido #connectingwithpeople #doula #breastfeeding #worcestershire

As a woman, an intelligent adult, you can make your own decision about your birth. However, to make a decision that you will hopefully not regret, you probably need the correct information and the pros and cons. And not the general pros and cons, but the ones that are specific to your circumstances. Every woman is unique. When you have all that, and you want to say yes, even though you have read so much about saying no, then do. Say YES. #doulasupport #doula #sayyes #decisions #birth #pregnant #worcestershire #thecityofworcester

I don’t think women really stop and think about their bodies in this way outside of #pregnancy or #breastfeeding. And I think we all should. #womensbodies #stopandthink #womenareamazing

Great article about what a Doula does. As a mentored Doula, I charge much less than the fees in the article, and have availability in June, November and December. Looking forward to hearing from you. xx
