Mama Kuimba means ‘mother singing’ (in swahilli) and it’s a project that investigates the many effects of the mother singing, both in mothers and in babies.

It encompasses a pregnancy choir, lullaby research, a mums and babies choir, a workshop of voice /singing as a tool for childbirth and the curiosity on the relationship between mother singing and children’s language achievement.

Mother's singing can send babies to bed, but it also makes the mum's breathing better, balance their hormones levels, and if we are singing together, it reinforces our social connections making other happy hormones like endorphins and dopamine flowing again.

This pregnancy choir is for mums to be, for birth professionals and for any person related to a pregnant woman(partner, a relative or a friend). If you feel that little tickle in your throat or a desire to sing, come join us and do burst into singing, NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NEEDED, no need to sight read music
