A great, welcoming safe pub, as I have said before. The only regret that I, and a lot of people of a similar age have, is that they trashed all the spaceflight memorabilia when it was regenerated in the 1980's. The pub opened in 1969/70 to celebrate the Apollo 11 moon landing. There were large photographs of the mission all over the then two bars, but best of all was the entrance. In a case, there were large scale models of the Apollo craft - the whole Saturn V rocket, and the Command/Service modules, and the Lunar Excursion Module. At any time of day, there would be kids standing peeping through the door at this display, fascinated. All gone. Still a lovely pub, but you wish that...

Good family meeting place. Fenced garden for kids, sports for the fans. Food is okay with large portions. Excellent nearby parking, handy for shops.
