About Manor Farm Music Festival
A message from Keith Dickinson’s daughter Suzanne:
In the summer of 2007 my dad was rushed in to hospital with a stroke and later diagnosed as terminally ill with an aggressive brain tumour at just the age of 53. An operation to remove the tumour left him immobile and in June 2008 dad passed away leaving his wife Christine and two daughters, Lynne and myself; and a son, Shaun behind.
As well as being a well-known horticulturist, my dad was a huge fan of live music, he attended many music festivals and concerts, some of which we attended as a family as I was growing up.
Dad was a humble man; he had a heart for people and hosted countless charity garden open days for our community, which I helped with. I have fond memories of helping run the tea and cake stall with mum’s homemade cakes and helping to promote the events as my dad chatted with the 100’s of visitors that came to enjoy our garden and woodland area. We would chat about having music at our open days - they seemed like far out dreams at the time.
In July 2008, to keep my dad Keith’s memory alive, friends and family all united to help organise the first music festival at Manor Farm, Hesketh Bank. This also was to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity for further research into the illness and for Marie Curie Cancer Care as without them dad wouldn’t be able to spend his last days at home with his family around him.
We know our case is not exclusive and we would like to thank everyone who has supported our festival in any way as it wouldn’t happen without you!
It is known for its great atmosphere and ‘good vibes’, we have 12 hours of music with over 20 bands and artists back to back over 2 stages and lots more for all the family and hope to raise lots of money for both charities this year. We look forward to seeing you there for our 6th year of Manor Farm Music Festival on Saturday 13th July.
