We'd like to give a big thank you to Elsa and Emilia Watkins pictured here beside Grandmother Sheila (right) and Marah Trustee Jackie Natt (left) for raising £70.28 for Marah through a Tombola event they organised. Jackie said “Marah is delighted to receive this generous donation and we are very impressed with the hard work Elsa and Emilia put into their fundraising. It is wonderful to see young people showing an interest and care for the people in need who come to Marah.”
W...ell done Elsa and Emilia!

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a while since I last posted anything. I'd like to share this new community food sharing initiative in the Stroud area which may interest some of our supporters.
It's always good to see people chipping in to help those in need in the local community.

A belated but BIG thanks to all at Lloyds Bank, who welcomed a team of Marah Volunteers to hold a cake sale and collection for Marah on Saturday 28th April. The event was a great success and as well as promoting Marah's work, we raised £115 and a number of people took standing order forms to make a regular donation. Thanks to Toni Scamens and Manager Mark Ashley for their help with the planning.

Many, many thanks to Staff Sergeant Steve Merchant and his team: Sam, Des and Gautam from 50 Squadron 29 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps for cooking a brilliant barbecue for Marah's guests at our Drop-In on Wednesday 2nd May.
The food was superb, and the army team provided a friendly welcome to our guests. Over 80 meals were served, and everyone agreed it was a great drop-in session. We hope to work together again, and very much appreciate the care and hard work of Sgt Stev...e's team feeding and helping those in need who come to Marah.
Please see link to the excellent article by Alex Clark in the Stroud News & Journal which also made page 2 of the paper edition: http://www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/… /16203549.South_Cer…/
Thanks to Sgt Steve and Alex for taking the photos below.

A big thank you goes out to the Jamaica Inn Kitchen for providing and cooking fantastic food at the Marah Drop-In on Saturday 28th April. Everyone really enjoyed the food and we thank Derrick from Jamaica Inn for supporting Marah in this way and thinking of the people in need who come to us. 55 people attended on the day, and 90 delicious meals were served (including seconds and takeaways). Hello everyone! The Marah Christmas meal took place on Saturday 16th at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. A great time was had by all and we fed 80 people. Over a hundred meals were served in all, including seconds.
Many many thanks to John Woods, Managing Director of Nuview, a local Stroud company who generously covered the costs of the Christmas meal. Thanks also to Waitrose, who made an additional contribution. We were also grateful for donations in kind from Bottl...e Green (soft drinks) and Costa Coffee (cups).
Many thanks also to all volunteers and supporters for your continued kindness and care for those in hardship who come to Marah. Happy Christmas and New Year from all at Marah.

It has been very heart-warming how many people have called in offering to volunteer for Christmas and it is great to know how many compassionate people there are in Stroud. Unfortunately we cannot accept these offers because it would mean the volunteers would greatly outnumber the people who come to us for help, for one day. There is a process for applying to volunteer on a regular basis.
Thank you to everyone for your support of Marah over the year! -Andrew

Hello everyone! We are asking if you can please nominate Marah for a chance at us receiving a £1,000 donation by clicking the following link, as part of a £130,000 give away to charities by Ecclesiastical to celebrate their 130th anniversary.

... The more nominations we get, the higher the chance of winning. For this reason we'd love as many people to nominate us as possible!
Many thanks, Andrew

Marah features in the new Help Through Crisis video. Marah is a partner on the local Help Through Crisis project managed by Stroud CAB who secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund. The fund is there to help those in crisis. Marah has a very small budget to assist those in crisis, and the Help Through Crisis fund has helped cover most of these payments.

Hello all Marah supporters! Waitrose in Stroud has kindly included us once again in their Christmas Green Token Community Matters programme. Placing your green tokens will help pay for the Marah Christmas meal. Last year over 80 people enjoyed a lovely Christmas meal. Please encourage your friends and family to support us if they shop at Waitrose. Thanks everyone, -Andrew

These were all taken at the Drop-in some time ago and I was given permission to post them here, though I've only just got around to uploading them. If you're one of the volunteers in one of the photos you are welcome to tag yourself.
Just a little view for the rest of the world to see what it's like up at the Drop-in (not that I'm there much, holed away in the office all the time!) -Andrew
... EDIT- There are loads of extremely similar ones so I'm deleting some of the duplicates.

Hi everyone! Marah's 100 Friends event on 19th August raised £114, and four people kindly signed up to donate £3 a month via standing order to the charity. It's a small start, but we're giving ourselves a year to sign up 100 regular givers. £3 covers the cost of a two-course meal provided by Marah, including fresh ingredients, hall rental, utilities and equipment costs.
If you could spread the word and maybe encourage one friend to sign up, that would be fantastic. See our we...bsite or contact the Marah office (Monday to Wednesday only) for more details.
If you want to read about the event, here is the article in the Stroud News and Journal: http://www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/… /15501219.Marah_Tru…/
Sorry, we are not always able to post as quickly or as often as we would like to as our office and admin time is very limited and there is a lot to do!
