Until recently I never knew we had a Marco Pierre Restaurant in Plymouth. Popped in yesterday for a coffee with my partner and the views are spectacular. Haven’t eaten here yet, but will shortly be going there for afternoon tea with a couple of cocktails and we can’t wait. Service was brilliant and staff made us very welcome - thank-you

User

The best views in Plymouth! The sunset was absolutely gorgeous and the views of the city, Barbican and the Hoe are simply stunning! I went with a group of friends and being a vegetarian there’s limited choice, however there were three options and I went for the gnocchi which was absolutely delicious! Service was efficient, friendly and overall an amazing experience.

User

Just been for an afternoon tea. Lovely view of Plymouth Hoe. So much we couldn’t eat it all. Fresh sandwiches, scones jam and cream, cakes and macrons really lovely. What we couldn’t eat was put into a box for us to take home. Attentive staff couldn’t do to much. Would recommend.

User

I have to speak as I find... after reading some reviews I was apprehensive... but... food was fab, service was excellent.. thank you to Grace who told us all about the area. Service was quick but not too fast I truly cannot fault it... granted it was not cheap... but you are paying for the name... try it, don’t be put off by done if these reviews

Date day, yay!

What a lovely lunch where we went all out for a 3 course celebratory meal.

We were the odd ones out as everyone else seemed to be having afternoon tea. I will say they looked lovely and we will be returning for one. Maybe with the mums!

The resturant was buzzing for a lunchtime. It wad joyus.

A lovely baked camembert, followed by a Chateaubrian and sticky toffee pudding and dark chocolate mousse.

Through all of this we were served by our favourite waiter Drew, who was attentive without being in our face, informative, funny and he remembered our favourite wine!

We loved the black and white chair too, so comfy!

What a pleasant afternoon, finished off with Liam Kelly buying a pair of skates! What fun.

User

Contrary to the reviews I have just read, the service we received was excellent; both the maitre de and or waiter Laura were attentive and knowledgeable.

Our starters traditional prawn cocktail and scallops with black pudding were just right. We shared a Chateaubriand which was cooked as requested and served hot. The minted peas were good but the green beans a tad under, accommodation on the bill was offered without request.

All in all an excellent birthday celebration.

User

We had a lovely meal. Prawn cocktail and Camembert to start, really good. Had belly pork, it was so beautifully cooked, the crackling was amazing. Husband had American burger which he enjoyed.

Sadly then had a dessert, Eton Mess, which was just ice cream, meringue and just coulis, no pieces of fruit. Very disappointed with that.

The wine was ok but at £21 a bottle came with a screw top!!! The waitress was very attentive and very pleasant but I asked for a glass of water which never arrived.

Overall though a very pleasant experience.

User

Setting and food was lovely, however had to wait 45-60 mins for mains after starter. Staff definitely under pressure with such a busy place. Went to the bar after for a drink, glasses piled high on the bar and on spare table in front of us so no one could sit down. Partner had to wait ages to get served and bar staff had no idea who was next even though it was relatively quiet. Large group of loud drunk people spoilt the atmosphere to. Manager certainly had his work cut out! Possibly security needed for this top restaurant?!

User

A great location with great views, may only issue was that i ordered only one dish the burger by Alex James but they got that wrong - but they did give 50% discount, the staff where very friendly but i think they where under staffed so that caused the mistake

User

We went for a birthday meal, the restaurant nice and views amazing. The food was lovely, may be a tad expensive for what it is, you are certainly paying for the name. The service was good to start with but as the evening went on it slowed down and we had to wait 15 mins at one point for extra drinks and it took ages to pay the bill to leave. Would like to go back to try afternoon. They just need to get the service right for the price they are charging. Worth a visit mind you.

User

Stunning views, 360, beautiful restaurant, ambience perfect, lighting beautiful, very well laid out restaurant , tables set very nicely, staff very friendly, had quite a wait to be served, also between courses, Just a few issues with the food, miner, would have been nice to have been offered bread before as a side, had to ask, fish soup wasn’t terribly flavoursome, one of my favs too, pork belly, very fatty, no crackling at all, very disappointed in that dish, very basic, just expected more from a marco restaurant, considering upper price range restaurant, if marco is putting his name to this restaurant i feel he should maybe re access the quality of food.

User

After eating here for a family Christmas meal,we all agreed the ambiance of the restaurant was lovely and couldn't fault the amazing view overlooking Plymouth Hoe. The food was quite average and quite pricey especially once you started adding "extras" things that usually come standard with a roast or a steak. My girlfriend bought me a package deal for my birthday as we liked the hotel. I was treated to a 3 course meal, one night stay and breakfast in the morning. This cost £150 for the two of us which was payed in advance. The check in process was fairly straight forward and the room was very nice but they do charge you an additional £5 for parking. Our table was booked for 7pm so we decided to have a drink in the bar half an hour before, we were seated about 6.55 and told that the waitress would soon be over to take our food order. The same waiter came back to us at 7.35 and couldn't believe we hadn't been served yet. He apologised and offered us a free drink at the end of the meal which was nice and when the food did finally come it was very enjoyable compared to our last visit. They then gave us our bill (which was already payed in advance) so we had to remind them of this and then just payed for our drinks. Lovely restaurant and breakfast in the morning was really good with lots of variety but overall not our best experience.

User

Was not very impressed, service was very slow, over cooked the fillet steak which was asked to be medium came out well done and like a burger, when we mentioned it they did take it away and cooked another one, by the time the second steak came out everyone else had finished there meal, the second attempt was not much better and still over cooked. They did agree to only charge half of the £32 for the steak which I still felt was to much. Very expensive with the quality of the food not cutting it. We will not be visiting again.

User

Quite loud despite being less than half full. I dined alone, which does present a challenge for service; not a lot of attention; 35+ mins wait between starter and main. Food was good, veg a little too al dente, but all hot; steak and wild mushrooms excellent. Staff pleasant, they had all been ‘well trained’, but it all lacked ambience.

I would have liked a bit more personal attention (almost everyone had a hand in serving me), ticked all the boxes apart from the ones that mattered.

Just not as exquisite as it should have been.

Only a Two star I am afraid, we booked here for my Birthday meal, 5 of us in total, service was appalling we had to wait 15 mins for a drink and considering there were only 4 gents at the bar and the restaurant was really quiet but there seemed to be 3 or 4 staff doing something but I am not exactly sure what.

my husband ordered a rib starter and decided to wait for the other starters to come out after 25mins of waiting he had to start his due to it getting cold.

Eventually we got our starters after asking the waitress to check where they were, she did apologise but the service was diabolical.

Having said that the food was good even though a little expensive just a shame the service could not of been better.

User

Eleven of us ate here last night for my 50th birthday dinner and we were disappointed to say the least. French onion soup that tasted like dishwater and a Mediterranean Fish Soup that was like a puree and overloaded with saffron - we were expecting something along the lines of bouillabaisse. My pork was tasty as was the lamb.. the filet steak my husband had was "ok". I guess we were expecting something out of this world but sadly it was not to be. Is a shame as the views are amazing but I think in future I would just go for cocktails. We did complain and the staff were very accommodating so no issues there, is just a shame that the food let it down.

User

I came to the restaurant on Sunday 18th March with 10 others, for my baby shower with Work colleagues.

We arrived at 3:30pm. It wasn’t hugely busy. After trying to get someone’s attention we ordered some drinks, these drinks took around 20 minutes to arrive, so to begin with I wasn’t hugely impressed!

We had pre ordered the afternoon teas.. 11 gentleman’s teas to be precise. These were brought out around 4pm, obviously some of this one has hot parts, to say they were luke warm would be generous. We asked for some tomato ketchup to go with the fish and chips and burgers. But unfortunately this didn’t arrive and we had to ask again for some, by the time it did arrive most of us had eaten the hot parts of the gentleman’s tea!

The beef sandwiches were the most astonishing part, the bread.. was solid. I don’t know if these sandwiches were made earlier in the day but they were totally inedible, not one of us ate one.

In general, the staff were not attentive at all, to get drinks to even be offered we had to either get up and go to the bar or try and gain someone’s attention to get any service, and at some points there was around 5 people behind the bar doing not a lot.

We had to move our 11 gentleman’s tea holders ourselves to the end of our table so we were more able to converse with one another.. as no one came to clear them, and eventually when a gentleman did, I pointed out about the bread and how it was totally hard and stale, he did absolutely nothing about this, and didn’t even apologise.

Our bill came to over £300. I think it’s a shame that standards are so low in a restaurant that prides itself in offering good service and food.

Unsurprisingly.. we didn’t leave a tip. But your waiter made a comment about the £1 change saying to his colleague.. “what am I meant to do with £1”.

There were too many flaws with the service of the restaurant and customer service, and we spent a lot of a our hard earned money on this event and what was meant to be an enjoyable afternoon, luckily we as a group still managed to enjoy each other’s company, but not one of us has reflected on the rest of experience with any positive comments.

I sent this as an email privately 2 weeks ago, and seen as you haven’t got the time to respond politely, and neither do your head office. I thought I should share with the people of Plymouth to save their money or spend it somewhere that offers better food and service! I would have maybe given a 2 or 3 star review but this clearly has dropped to a 1 star with the lack of response to my emails.

Dinner in Marco Pierre White restaurant in Plymouth absolute disaster. Sat down at 20.30, had to chase the staff to order. Food arrived at 22.10 and three of four orders was cold. Was taken back to be reheated and returned equally cold - so at that point we gave up.
