Margaret Green Animal Rescue Description

At Margaret Green Animal Rescue we take in pets that have become homeless due to a change in circumstances, or that have been neglected, mistreated or abandoned. Regardless of their circumstance, each pet will find a warm bed, a kind team and all the love and respect they deserve awaiting them at Margaret Green Animal Rescue.

We pride ourselves on the standard of care each rescue pet receives. As well as veterinary care, pets are prepared and rehabilitated ready for a new home. Most of our animals are vaccinated, micro chipped, treated against worms and fleas and neutered before going to their new home.

Finding forever homes is at the very heart of what we do and there is no better feeling than knowing we have found the perfect match. Our rehoming process is designed specifically to help potential owners adopt a pet that fits in perfectly with their lives and loved ones.

Meet Moose, a handsome Greyhound who has been in rescue for 276 days and would love to find a home to call his own.
Hello my name is Moose, and I am a handsome 5 year old male Greyhound. Running is my favourite pastime here at Lincoln Farm and you should see me go! I'm quite a laid back and relaxed chap who's happy to socialise with other dogs. I am often told that I have a great personality, everyone I meet falls in love with my quirky charm. I am a very affectionate boy and... I enjoy laying down for a snooze on a big duvet. I also love going out on new adventures and exploring new surroundings. I am looking for an adult only family without other pets.

#ForeverHomeFriday We hope our #foreverhome stories have put a smile on your face today, here’s our last one for this week…
Frankie Frankie (was Dinky) is really settling in. Every day is a training day and some days are easier than others but he is doing amazingly well. Our trainer is pleased with him and we have our homework to do each day. You won't be surprised that there are some socialisation issues in the home. He has obviously been teased and dealt with very forc...ibly but we are all working together to have positive playtime. He loves his puzzles and Kong. When out he is lovely with any people or dogs we meet. We go to Upton Country Park dog enclosure to let him have free time and other dogs love him. One owner put her Beagles in with him and they had a lovely time. Lead training is getting there and the next stage is long lead recall then off lead - so looking forward to it. He is the most gentle, gorgeous boy who has won our hearts and will never be in another home. Thank you for all the work you did with him, it has made training so much easier. Sue and family xxx

Hello my name is Mango and I am a 1 year old female Lurcher. I love to be in the company of people, so the staff here are looking for a family who would be around for most of the day. I can be a little nervous in new situations and would like a family who can help me gain confidence. I can live with a medium or large sized dog and older children, however, I would prefer not to live with cats or other small furries.
To make a date with Mango call Lincoln Farm on 01929 471340 ...or email lincolnfarm@mgar.org.uk she can’t wait to meet you!

Meet Roxy who has been looking for her forever home for 145 days but just keeps getting overlooked. Here’s a little about her in her own words…
Hello there, my name Roxy and I am around 11 years old. I was found as a stray, so my age is an approximate. I am a very friendly and affectionate girl who loves to be around people. I should be fine to live with older children but I would prefer to be the only cat. The staff don't know if I have met a dog before but think I might be ...able to live with a friendly one. There’s a video that shows how sweet I am so, make sure you take a look at https://bit.ly/2IlpUNL

This is Ted, a lovely Terrier type dog looking for his forever home…
Hi I’m Ted and 10 years young! Since arriving at the centre, I had to have lots of teeth extracted but I am so much happier because of it, it hasn't ruined my devilishly good looks though. I love the company of other dogs and would like to live with a like-minded friend but also, because of my love of people, I would prefer to have someone around most of the day. There’s some lovely videos of me at https://b...it.ly/2wEborD so, go on take a look…

#ForeverHomeFriday Here’s another happy forever home story…
Pepe Pepe’s settling in well with the Charles family! Always on the lookout for more food whenever we are in the kitchen so having to be strict with his food times! Had a few sleepless nights as he meows and calls us a lot, but he is starting to chill out a bit more now as he gets used to his new home. He’s still so friendly and affectionate to everyone! Thank you for him!

Wonderful team of people caring for them thank you from us all please rescue don't buy from a breeder

User

We've previously had rescue dogs from other centres but the care and attention from Lincoln Farm staff exceeds all previous experience. The pre-adoption process was thorough with meeting and greeting, telephone conversations and personal checks, and the adoption pack we came away with contained so much relevant information which was very down to earth. I particularly liked that the training advice was very practical and written from an "every dog is different" perspective which shows us that the writers are knowledgeable, understanding, and most of all approachable should we have any issues.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Margaret Green Animal Rescue to anyone looking to rehome a family friend.

Particular thanks to Ruth and Glynis from all of us Colclough's, including Sprocket :)

User

We had a visit here yesterday afternoon as we were visiting family who live in the area. I have worked in kennels, and keep chickens presently and have to say I was very impressed with the housing for the animals. The staff were all very friendly and seemed happy in their vital work. Our visit prompted important conversations with the children about animal welfare and why sadly rescue centres are necessary, and reminded them that we had got our cat from a similar centre. Well done to all the staff for the love and care you give to every animal entrusted to you. Well worth a visit, but please leave a donation

User

We are so in love with Blitz...she is really just settling in after just one day...a sweet docile loving girl...thank you Margaret Green...what a wonderful change you have brought to our lives

User

Tilly has been an absolute joy and a wonderful addition to the family.

User

Thank you to both MG in Devon and Dorset for helping us rehome two lovely dogs, Tucker (RIP) and our gorgeous Ted. They have both been an absolute joy, no small thanks to the care and training received at Margaret Green from their brilliant, caring staff. They matched us well with our dogs and gave great advice for future work and training with them. All rescue dogs need a bit of extra support post rehoming but they are set well on the road to being good companions throughout their time at Margaret Green.

User

Thank you for making Brody feel so at home! He’s one very tired fur baby. Xx will definitely recommend to friends xx

User

Really wonderful staff and animals, thanks for making our little family complete and allowing us to rehome "Lily" XX

User

Margaret Green are an amazing charity and they look after the animals so well. My family and friends have adopted animals from them for years and they have always been well looked after once they are rescued and the staff have been so helpful and kind.

User

Lovely and clean I have Ruffles a Persian cross, who has some behaviour problems but hopefully will get there one day with her, they have all been very helpful. Kate especially, thanks for all the hard work that you do on behalf of all the animals in your care.

User

Just got our lovely greyhound, Chilli, from MGAR. Really impressed by all the staff we met. An excellent approach to re-homing a dog, with a sensible amount of due-diligence to assess your suitability. Well done to all the team at MGAR.

User

Happy and health animals. Clean living quarters. Lovely, attentive staff.

Great to see new residents receiving top notch treatment. We will definitely be back soon.

User

Beautiful place, and such a wonderful environment for the animals. The staff are so lovely, helpful and friendly. We went there looking for dogs, but we didn't realise they don't have dogs at the centre in Church Knowle, and they happily pointed us towards the centre in Winterborne Kingston. Will definitely be coming back. <3

User

After loosing my two terriers within months of each other I went to Margaret Green in Winterbourne Kingston to register for a dog looking for a forever home. How lucky was I when the first dog I was shown was Freddie, a 5 year old working cocker who as it turns out was perfectly suited to me. We connected immediately and he has been a joy ever since, 3 weeks today actually since I brought him home. Long walks and bike rides together and with friends have been such fun and he has filled a huge hole left by my little terriers. The work you all do there is amazing. So much love and attention given to the animals in need of TLC. It was an absolute pleasure every time I visited. I look forward to supporting up coming events and highly recommend you to anyone looking for a dog in need of a loving forever home. Thank you.

User

Not the same any more cos all the animals are locked up all day and night none roam free on the sanctuary

Staff walking about doing nothing!!

It was great when Margaret Green (RIP) were alive with Jackie Fraser, Bless them both they knew how to treat animals and they were all happy and living very well

User

Sad to see the cats all penned up years ago in margaret greens day all the cats around 180 to 200 were free to roam until their bedtime and the oldies had beds by the aga at least i know of one sanctuary where cats are still free to roam and thats the celia hammond animal trust. Its very sad to see the changes since margarets day, the rabbits and guinea pigs had nice large grassy runs and things were much better for the animals in margaret greens day its a pity the people running it have changed it so much its very sad to see miss green loved the cats being free and she would offer sanctuary for life to the oldies etc. things were much better for the animals in margaret greens day so please change it back to the way it use to be and have a aga for the elderly cats. FREEDOM to roam

User

It’s sad to see all the cats locked up in Margaret greens day all 180 cats were free to roam the grounds and they all came back for their tea and put to bed also the rabbits and guinea pigs had large grass gardens where they could run play and dig and the elderly cats had nice warm beds by the aga it’s not a sanctuary anymore and the people running it have ruined it it was much better in miss greens day she was great to work for and I’m glad I had that privilege of knowing her

User

I worked as a volunteer for Margaret Green and was appalled with the staffs attitude towards animal welfare. Rabbits were in enclosures that were over 47 Centigrade. Pigs had no shade. Cats were in a greenhouse locked up all day in cage like ovens. All basic parts of the animal welfare act 2006. I tried to tell them but they didn't want to listen. They've lost perspective - too focused on how it looks and hygiene but no consideration to the animals themselves. How can we progress when places like Margaret green are stuck in the past with regard to animal welfare. Worrying they are meant to be the ones educating the public but they are ignorant themselves. Shocking and disappointed.

User

Having visited with my two children many times I thought id try rehoming when one of their guinea pigs sadly died at the weekend we went and met some lovely little girls who we started the process of adopting only to be told my massive 2 story hutch (which can be 2 shut of into 2 hutches) was not good enough and they wont allow me to have them and tried to get me to have a single girl instead. Any parent will know the absolute heart break that then follows when you have to explain this to your child who had their heart set on them.
