About Margaret Pyke Trust

Reproductive health training provider. Promoter of reproductive rights for sustainable development. Coordinator of the Population & Sustainability Network.

Margaret Pyke Trust Description

The Population & Sustainability Network brings together expert organisations working in development, population, sexual and reproductive health and conservation.

By working with our Network members we promote the links between these issues through policy, advocacy and community level project activities.

Our vision is a world where everyone can decide freely whether, when, and how many children they want, for the benefit of all people and the planet.

We believe that without access to adequate sexual and reproductive health, rights, information and services, neither the empowerment of women nor sustainable development can ever be achieved.

Our global and diverse Network gives us a unique voice and enables us to bring together expert partners to design and implement integrated Population, Health and Environment development projects.

It doesn't stop!
This time it's the South African media covering our #ThrivingTogether campaign.
Great to see our colleagues at Endangered Wildlife Trust Peace Parks Foundation, Friends of the Earth, Conservation Planning Specialist Group and CHASE Africa all being quoted.

What happens when the UK's leading reproductive health training organisation (us) works with conservation leaders like Wild Planet Trust, Living Coasts, Paignton Zoo and Newquay Zoo? Well we get written about in the Exeter Daily, that's what.

Judith Stephenson, the Margaret Pyke Professor of Sexual and Reproductive Health at UCL:
“In some ways, it seems like one of God’s great design faults … It is not helpful to have these periods – in fact, if you don’t have them, one of the biggest benefits would be reducing iron deficiency anaemia.”

Well, that looks more like our David, not our Carina, but they both worked hard to make sure the IUCN Regional Conservation Forum in Rotterdam featured barriers to family planning, as a conservation issue. IUCN IUCN Europe

The biggest cuddly toy you've ever seen? We're at the WWF offices today, talking about why barriers to family planning are relevant to biodviersity, sustainability and the environment.

#Familyplanning may not be a silver bullet but it certainly goes a long way in improving women and girls' health, empowerment and is fundamental for sustainable development!
"With contraceptives, you can protect your health instead of putting your body through the rigors of pregnancy and child birth when you don’t want to. With contraceptives, you can finish your schooling. With contraceptives, you can work outside the home and save up money if you choose to do so. Health, e...ducation, and a job. Those are foundations of prosperity, and they all depend on the ability to plan."

Wish our David and Carina good luck! They're just leaving the office to go to a 'dragon's den' type event to pitch for funding from The Funding Network and the Environmental Funders Network. All the best! You can do it!
