We have now got new job opportunities with immediate start. All positions have full holiday pay and six weekly tip hand out. All positions are evening work only.
Two front of house staff to meet and greet customers, serve food and wine, take orders and have a good knowledge of food, must be presentable with excellent customer skills. National minimum wage.
... Two kitchen assistances. Ideally you will have a passion for good food or a relevant qualification in food preparation however full training will be given. National minimum wage.
Pudding maker, we are looking for someone who is skilled, enthusiastic and full of "Delia" style ideas to make puddings that can be prepared when ordered (this may suit someone's mum!). National minimum wage.

Dover Sole fresh from the bay. Grilled plain or garlic butter? Hopefully I've got enough for the week end!

Specials this week end in addition to our normal menu. We will take a picture of the fish tomorrow when it comes in. "Dear" Paige made a mistake when she wrote the specials. I'm sure someone will notice it?

VALENTINES DAY MENU 2016
... Mariners Bar & Restaurant Valentine’s Day Menu Set Menu 24.50 per person for 3 courses or 19.50 for 2 courses
First Course Roasted red pepper and tomato soup (V)
Marinated mixed olives, feta cheese and marinated tomatoes served with crusty bread (V)
Mariners fishcakes with a hint of chorizo and chilli dip
Ham hock terrine, onion chutney, melba toast and salad
Pan-seared scallops with crispy bacon and pea puree (1.50 supplement)
Main Course
Grilled venison steak with wild mushroom gravy
Slow braised beef & carrots in a rich red wine gravy, and herb dumpling
Pan-seared scallops with crispy bacon and pea puree (3.00 supplement)
Chicken breast stuffed with Swiss cheese (Gruyere and Emmental) wrapped in Parma Ham with a white wine and cream sauce
Paddle steamer salmon & prawn tagliatelle with brandy cream sauce
Roast lamb rump with minted gravy
Nut roast – The name says it all! Five nuts with Halloumi cheese with tomato sauce (V)
Roast pork belly with sage and apple stuffing and red wine gravy

Wow, I'm shocked. We at Mariners have just watched about ten people in seven minutes u v'ing our menu board for the treasure trail clues. Better still some parents came in to book a table for tomorrow. Huge thanks to BOB for organising Halloween. Definitely good for business

Our cheese board for one! Always a minimum of seven cheeses. We're told it's the best in the west. You decide. Great with a glass of Port too.

Tonight's special. Sharing fish platter for two. A whole Dover and lemon sole, monk fish, scallops, tiger prawns, clams mussels, sword fish and a pot of fish chowder. Sold out by 7.30 wow! Could you eat all that?

If you're looking for a restaurant that offers a superb choice of dishes carefully & creatively prepared using quality ingredients, a cosy and relaxed atmosphere & a warm welcome from an utterly charming host then Mariners is the place for you. The staff at the Mariners couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant! Food was superb, surroundings comfortable (that sounds half hearted - it's lovely!) and staff great. What more could we have asked for! Our table of 9 was very satisfied (4 adult and 5 kids).

John is a very talented chef! The hospitality of John and the staff was fantastic. We were visiting from the USA and dining at John's restaurant is a very fond memory in Bideford. The food was wonderful! I hope to return and I recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I have been to Mariners many times and it has always been top quality, food , staff and surroundings. When looking for somewhere to have a nice drink last week John welcomed us in. It was lovely to sit somewhere pleasant and have a glass of wine. If John is not booked upstairs and you fancy a quiet drink, in a lovely little place, pop in. Fantastic first visit, my partner and I wanted a fabulous meal on the last night of our holiday to Devon, and the Mariners restaurant didn't disappoint. Warm welcome, even though we were slightly late due to traffic, chef came out to meet us, service was warm and attentive without being too in your face. Fish/seafood and main meals were superb, cheese board excellent, and accompanying wine menu very complimentary. A great independent place to find. Thank you we will be back xx

Another great meal. The skate wing with garlic butter was superb. The sticky ginger pudding was light and moorish. Every time we visit Bideford we make a pilgrimage to Mariners for dinner from the talented chef Mr John Emms.

An excellent evening superb menu and wine list truly one of the best restaurants.
