If you watch, bet or engage in the Grand National tomorrow, in anyway, please just remember it is almost guaranteed that at least one horse will die during the race. The damage done to the horses worked and bred for this, especially those discarded when they don't make their owners enough money, includes physical and psychological damage that the horses will often never recover from. This leads to a distressing life and an early death. Just as in the greyhound racing industry, those that make the money and cause the issues very rarely clean up the mess and misery they cause.

Watching the National Television Awards and so so delighted the AMAZING Paul O'Grady won the achievement award this year for his work at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. The program has transformed the lives of so many rescues and brought the much needed attention to the public on the ongoing struggle rescue centres and shelters go through every day. DON'T SHOP. ADOPT ❤

As Christmas approaches so do family and friends. If you have dogs at home, please be careful how you introduce babies and children. THIS VIDEO IS NOT CUTE. IT SHOWS HOW NOT TO DO IT......
"The caption states that the husky's love of the newborn will melt your heart. This is not love that you see here. This is curiosity, nervousness, ambivalence, conflict. The dog is licking her lips and lipsmacking, has very wide eyes and is not at all relaxed. She is watching, sniffing and ...monitoring every movement by the mother around the baby. She licks the baby tentatively and, at about 00:30, starts to mouth its head.
We want to believe this is love and protectiveness. The tentative adorableness is most likely due to the dog's conflict about grabbing something that's "owned" by someone else. Dogs usually will wait until the item is unguarded before they freely grab.
This is NOT a safe way to introduce a newborn. Instead, the baby should be swaddled and held *entirely* in someone's arms without giving the dog direct access in any way, and the dog should be on leash held by someone else. After the initial excitement has calmed down, the dog can sniff a foot or just the swaddled cloth held by an adult, while the person holding the leash is ready with treats to redirect as needed. That's plenty of introduction.
The reality is that we'd probably see the same facial expressions if the mother were introducing and holding onto a new toy or a piece of chicken. We cannot tell the difference between a dog's viewing of a baby as a puppy to be "protected", or as food. When this is ambiguous, there can be tragic consequences. Please, never hold a baby's head up to a dog this way. It's dangerous. Dogs are dogs; the responsibility for safety is ours.

A very important read to support the ban of third parties being able to sell animals in particular puppies. Please contact your MP ask why they're not supporting #lucyslaw

This sadly is so true. When, why and how did this happen? Dog's haven't changed, we have!
